Goodluck Matt

I guess the only thing I have to blog about is the farewell for one of my buddies at work.  Matt Rohr is leaving the Navy and going to work for Intel, up in the bay area.  He has been a good friend and I wish him luck with the move and the new job.

He has been an excellent instructor and has done a great job in the two years he has been here, and he will be missed.

So to you Matt, fair winds and following seas.

This is getting ugly

Ok, I have stayed off this subject for the past couple of days as I have been trying to tone down my rhetoric regarding illegal immigration, but what I have seen on the news and on the web the past couple of days has me growing concerned and bothered.

The massive rally's over the weekend by pro-illegal immigration folks and some of the violence that broke out in Indiana over the weekend and the sheer numbers of people that showed up in Los Angeles had better wake people up to the fact that this is a serious problem and it must be dealt with, before we have a civil war here in our own country.

I have tried to keep my comments toned down of late as my church is in favor of protecting illegal immigrants, and I don't like feeling like a hypocrite, but actually I don't really think I should feel that way at all.  There are several things I don't totally agree with my church with, and I am still at peace with God so I should be ok.

I have heard the arguments that these people are taking the jobs others don't want, are paying taxes, and that the country was formed by immigrants.  I don't buy into any of it.

True immigrants, legal immigrants, who learned to speak English, who didn't carry disease, and who assimilated into society, formed the United States.  Why do these folks think it is ok to jump to the head of the line and consider themselves law-abiding immigrants?  They have bypassed all the checks and balanced put in place to protect legal immigrants and American citizens.

These people are now taking jobs away from American citizens, as just one look at the construction industry should be clue enough.  How many carpenters, electricians, and painters are out of work do the thundering hoards hanging out at Lowe's and The Home Depot every day?  Fast food is another area these people have been taking over in.  Mc Donald's, Wendy's and others were a good starting point for the youth or the country to land their first job.  Not any more, as now you have to speak another language so they can get your order right at the drive through window.

Then there is the tax thing.  OK, they are paying sales tax, and that is about all I can see them paying.  Are they paying income tax?  If so, how can they be doing that, as they need to have a Social Security Number for that?  Ah, that's right, stolen Social Security Numbers, so someone out there is the victim of identity theft as illegal aliens are using their numbers to get work, and those wages are recorded for that taxpayer.

We are a country of about 200 Million people, and of that 11 million are illegal immigrants.  That is 5.5 percent and climbing.  They are gobbling up our health care, our tax dollars for the poor, and they are making a shambles of our education system.  There has to be a point where the government will rise up and see this for what it is, a full-scale invasion from inside.

Congress is just starting to take notice.  I like this new law, but I think it will go the way of everything else.  Back when Ronald Reagan was president he gave amnesty to illegal's living here at that time.  They were going to then start enforcing the laws and keep the problem from raising its ugly head again.  So as a result of that we should have no problem.  Actually the problem is worse now, and these rallies would have never happened back in Reagan's day.

I think all these people currently here should be deported back to wherever they came from and then be placed at the bottom of the legal immigration list.  The just because you are born here medical loophole should be eliminated.  They should establish a guest worker program and it should be open to all countries, not just Mexico.

When I hear these folks whining about how it will split up their family and all, while I am sympathetic and all, they knew they were breaking the law when they came, so they should except the consequences.

There have been laws on the book pretty much for many years concerning hiring of illegal's and the companies that hire them should be fined heavily.  When I hear this crap of home loans for illegal's I really want to blow my top.  That is what caused the violence in Indiana.

I am currently working hard to brink Laila and her children to the United States legally.  It is a paperwork hassle, but it will be well worth it in the end, as we will have the satisfaction of knowing we did it properly.  The folks that come here illegally are the reason it takes so long for regular legal immigrants to come here.  They should be sent back and to the bottom of the list.

Getting rid of them will relax the healthcare, education, legal, and law enforcement burdens cause by these law-breakers.  They have no rights as they are not subject to our Constitution and have not earned the protections offered by it.  Being able to sneak into the country does not automatically make you a citizen or give you any rights.

By properly filling out all the paperwork, having a physical and showing a means of support other than applying for a welfare heck does put you on the road to gaining it.  This craziness on our borders has to stop.  I realize we have not had another 9/11, but it is only a matter of time, because if the contractor putting a new roof on my house can do it cheap with some guy who entered the country illegally, than one of Osama Bin Laden's buddies can blow that roof up after they sneak in by the same means.

Someone is going to have a bad day.

Well someone is going to be in deep crap for this one.  U.S. Navy Aegis Radar equipped DDG collides with a tanker.  I am sure glad I was not the Officer of the Deck on board there.

The way the Navy is, it does not matter who was at fault.  Whoever was on watch on the bridge and in combat is going to watch their careers end, as with all the electronic equipment and all the watch standers that should have been on duty, something like this should not happen.

I know a few people on the McCampbell and am glad that no one was seriously hurt.  I do feel bad for the folks on watch, as even if the McCampbell was following the Rules of the Road, this will be blamed on someone.

I will keep up on this one in the press, to see what happens.

Church Today

Well today since I was up early and all I attended the 9:30 mass.  Today was kind of different as the Liturgy had two different sermons for today.

Father Arnold gave the mass today and we had the second of the two sermons.  The first reading was from
2 Chronicles 36:14-16, 19-23 (32B).  It was about Jesse, who brought 7 of his sons to present to Samuel to see if the lord would annoint any of them, but the lord rejected them all.  Samuel asked Jesse if these were all the sons he had and he said no as his youngest was tending the sheep.  Samuel told Jesse to go get him and when the child showed up he was selected.

The second reading was from Ephisians 2:4-10 where we were told to concentrate on light and not darkness.

Then there was the Gospel which was ver long today.  It was John 9:1-41 and was about a blind man who was made to see.

The Father then talked about sin and how we must pray for forgiveness to have the sins removed.

I guess this Sunday in addition to being called the 4th Sunday of lent is also called Letare Sunday, which is too be of a joyful nature.  Even though it is lent and we are supposed to be suffering for our sins, God is very forgiving and therefore we should rejoice during this Sunday.

All in all it was great to go and I feel good now that I attended.  Now I have to change clothes, and get a few things done before I start my 2 hour stint moderating blogs in blogshares.

Almost a disaster

This afternoon I had a scare.  Since we are in the lent season I am not eating meat on Friday's in accordance with my church.  Instead of meat I have been eating salads on Fridays.

Anyway I was making up a big bowl of salad and found that I had no tomatoes, and a salad is not a salad without tomatoes.  I decided to jump in the car and run down to the local grocery store, but the car would not start.

Since it is my only means to get to work I panicked.  Anyway I broke out my meter and found that the battery was fine and started thinking starter.

I checked out a few websites and it seems like the brushes on my starter may be getting ready to die.  I left the car in gear, it is a five speed manual, and backed it down the driveway a foot or so, and it started right up.

I will now make an appointment with the Volkswagen folks to get it checked out.  At least it starts now.

Just a thought

Today is Friday the 24th of March and I am excited as it means that 2 weeks from today I will be on my way to Manila to visit my Laila.  While not looking forward to the 19-hour flight, I am looking forward to the 21 days I will be spending with her and the children.  Besides I have not met Jun Jun yet and I am anxious to meet him.

We were talking last night about taking a small vacation.  I will already be on vacation, but I think I need to get Laila out of the house, away from the everyday chores, so she can sleep in as late as she wants, and she can get away from her PC, Phone, and Cell Phone for a few days.

I was thinking originally about taking her and the kids to Hong Kong, as I am very familiar with where to go and what to do.  Laila thinks that the cost might be a little too high, and if so then there are many beaches and mountain resorts right there on the island of Luzon to go to.  I just think it would be good to get her and the kids out of the house for a few days.  Please tell me what you think in my comments area.

Other than that, I feel like an idiot.  Yesterday when I found that my speakers were not working I bought a new set.  When I got home last night and went to install them I found that the power strip that I had my old speakers powered from was turned off.  Now I have a brand new set of spare speakers.  And to think I do electronics for a living.  I feel so dumb about that one.

Anyway in keeping with my promise to make smaller posts and to keep on just one or two subjects, I guess it is time to stop this one.  Again please leave a comment concerning the vacation and if it is a good or bad idea.  Also Hong Kong, Mountain, or Beach, which do you think would be best.

Have a great weekend everyone.

Speakers

After yesterday's marathon post Laila agrees.  Make smaller posts and have one subject for post.  And as usual she is of course right.  So I will try and keep one idea for post now.

Today when I got up a disaster happened.  My speakers for my PC crapped out and I was not able to talk to Laila before coming to work this morning except on chat.  I missed hearing her voice his morning, as I have grown accustomed to hearing her on Skype each day before I leave.

Anyway I will pick up some speakers and a headset at the Navy Exchange during lunch and while I am there will go to the food court and get a good lunch, which will probably wreck my diet.

So tonight I will be all ready to hear Laila's voice again.

Clustermaps

Ever wonder who is looking at your blog and from where?  Laila turned me on to Clustermaps, which will put a map full of dots on your blog.

The dots represent visitors to your blog.  The bigger the dot, the more visitors from that area.  It also has a site counter to let you know how many folks are visiting.

The best part is that it is free and you even have a chance to enter thier contest toi win a two year premium membership.  So join and enter the contest, just don't beat out my entry.

I want to see my map make the face of the earth look like it has chicken pox, and I hope after you put it on your blog, yours will too.

Another week.

Well it is the start of a new work week, and with less than three weeks to go before my trip to visit Laila, I hope to keep very busy so the time passes by very quickly.

After my little stomach adventure with the million year old English Muffins, I do feel a little better today.  I didn't really feel much like eating this morning and will eat lightly over the next couple of days to make sure I am ok.  I did manage to keep down some chicken soup and some tea last night.

I was a little disappointed with Bloghares this morning.  I was trying to get my tagged blogs bought this morning, but the pages took so long to load I didn't get it finished, so it was a huge disappointment.  Usually I have enough time to buy the stuff in the morning, sell it when I get home after hyping it up, and then buy it back later in the night.

The next day I usually sell, buy and sell again.  So basically when the game gets slow like it did this morning, it damages the way I play the game and throws my whole week off.

Anyway, Laila found some other game, that I will checkout when I get home.  I don't remember what the name of it, but I do have it book marked, so I will look at it when I get off.

I sold my Bow of Destiny at the Neopets auction for 3,900,000 so that took my account up a bit.  I also won over 100,000 neopoints playing the Black Pawkeet Slots.  I got 4 ship's several times, 4 pirates once, and 5 ships' once.  I was getting a lot of chests, but they were not aligned so I didn't get any huge winnings.  I still to this day, have not won a jackpot or managed to get 5 aligned chests.  Someday I guess I will get lucky get one or the other.

I have been listening with interest, to all the commercials, for the folks running for congress, to replace Randy "Duke" Cunningham.  I am not in that district, I am stuck with Bob Filner, but the commercials are all over the radio and television.

They are all saying the exact same thing.  They are against special interest groups and illegal immigration.  Then they will get in office and do the same thing all the rest do, ignore illegal immigration and take money from special interest groups.  I am voting, no incumbents, as I am fed up with all of them.  Washington's ability to get nothing done other than take my money and waste it, has me very angry.  Anyway, something has to be done to get through to these folks.  Business as usual in Washington should not be allowed to be continued.

Another thing that bothers me is some of the comments I have seen posted on Laila's blog and other blogs I check out from time to time.  Why do people have to leave sexually explicit comments on people's blogs?  If they think they will stir a little interest from the person they leave the comment to, it will only result in turning the person off and maybe getting their IP blocked.

Laila is always managing to attract these jerks that will leave some comment that just upsets her.  Basically Laila and I were friends first, and even now that she is my lover, I still don't leave those types of comments on her blog.  I can tell you guys out there; some woman will take it as an instant turnoff when you start making everything sexual in nature.

You may think you are being impressive in your posts, but for good women like Laila, you are a turn off and will get your IP banned.  The other question I have is why are the majority of these stupid posts come from the United States and Australia?  I sometimes am a little embarrassed by the behavior of western men.

Anyway, I am wondering how high the repairs on the son's car are going to be this time? It sound's like it is going to be his transmission this time.

Anyway, I just really sometimes have a hard time understanding children these days.  They seem to want and want, but don't seem to have time to demonstrate their appreciation for what you have done for them.  Maybe if I go hard line on the car repairs, he will get the hint, that I expect him to get some stuff done other than sleep, eat and mess up the house.

I guess this week the anti-war folks will be out protesting the Iraqi War.  I wonder how these folks have all this time to go out and protest and where they get the money to travel all over the place?  I don't mind it when they peacefully protest; I just wish the press would not make a huge deal about it.  The pro war and pro troop rally's as well as the illegal immigrant rally's must always take place on the weekends, as people on this side all have jobs and can not afford to take off to attend the events during the week.

I hope I am not supporting these anti-war folks with my tax dollars and I also hope I am not paying for their travel.  It is time they got a job and a life.

Anyway I guess this entry has managed to grow to be quite lengthy so it is now time to go ahead and get this one saved.  Also time to get back to some constructive work.

Not feeling well

This morning I got up a little late after staying up watching movies with Laila.  I went to bed at about 2:30AM and got up at 7:15AM.

I was really hungry so I ate some sausages, eggs and English muffins, chatted with Laila and then went back to bed to take a little cat nap before church.  I decided I would go to the 11AM service but when the clock went off I decided the 12:30 service would be better.

I woke up again at 12 and started getting ready to go, when all of a sudden I started throwing up and got all weak in the legs and all.

Anyway, I decided rather than go to church and throw up on everyone, I would skip it this morning and see if I feel better for the afternoon service.

I took some Pepto Bismol and I think I am going to go lay down again.  I don't know what is up with my stomach as I felt good when I got up.  The eggs and sausage were fresh, but I am not sure about the English Muffins.  Maybe they were too old or something.

Anyway, I am going to go try and sleep this off and hopefully feel better when I get up.
