Miserable News

Ma RWO and I have been together now for 23 and a half years. Recently she has been sleeping alot and having to diet for a Gall Stone problem. Well now we have something more serious to deal with. She has breast cancer on top of the Gall Stone problem.

We don't know how far along it is, and I hope they caught it quick as it is supposed to be treatable if caught early. I guess we'll find out over the next couple of weeks. So if you are of the praying persuasion please pray for her good health.

Looks like we have to find a home for one of our poodles. He's a good dog but he has been bullying some of the others so we are looking to find him a home. I think if he were to not have any competition for attention he will make someone a great companion. I just don't want to have to take him to the pound as that would probably be a death sentance for him, and he is a good dog. He just doesn't get along with some of the others.

I guess that's about it for now. I am a little too depressed to write much more tonight.

Weekend

Well I am glad the weekend is here. I actually went to bed a little early last night and got up before I was really planning to. I was hearing a little bit of baby dog crying under the bed and when I checked sure enough our female had puppies again. Since I don't bend so good after hurting my back i don't know how many she had. I thought I heard two different voices, but when my daughter checked she thought she saw only one. Since we have a California King bed, she can get tucked quite a ways under there so I guess we will find out how many she had over the next couple of days, unless I can talk one of the kids to climb under the bed and get them.

After I got up I was a little lazy and decided to go get some breakfast at McDonalds rather than cook. I also had to gas up Ma RWO's car and with the gas prices the way they are now it is cheaper for me to gas up at the Navy Exchange. Ma has been lazy and has not gotten her ID card updated since I retired so I have to get the gas since they are asking folks to show ID's. On my way home I went to the drive up window and ordered a big breakfast with an extra order of hash browns.
Well I got home and low and behold, no extra order of hash browns. Normally this would be annoying and I would just blow it off, but it has been happening more and more frequently as I go to fast food places so I sent McDonalds an e-mail explaining why I will no longer be a customer.

Since the order is printed on the receipt, I see no reason for having my order messed up other than what I have observed at some of the other fast food places around town. It seems that when I go to fast food places anymore they are manned almost entirely by Hispanics, probably illegally here I might add. They don't speak English so the can't get the orders correct. As this happens to me I cross the places off my list of places to do business, and sent an e-mail to the corporate office.

Lately the Minutemen have been catching a lot of flack for patroling the borders in Arizona. They are concidered to be vigilantes. I don't think so, they are concerned citizens. The first line of defense as far al our contry goes is the borders. If we can"t secure our borders, we can't protect our country.

I have heard that the minutement are now targeting businesses that use illegals as a part of their work forces. I say go for it, and I myself am going to keep an eye out where I shop and where I suspect illegals are working, are places I will not shop.

Since the congress and the President can't seem to do anything about this problem, and as the silent majority are starting to awaken to this problem, as groups like the Minutemen are getting this problem some attention, some of these public officials had better take notice.

As out hospitals close, schools continue going in the tank and as long as you can not even get your order filled at a fast food joint, thier political futures are going to be in jeopardy. We are at war, and if we can't even keep illegal aliens from walking across our southern border, we are done for.

I find it funny that border patrol agents that are also reservists are highly sought after by the military to protect the borders in Iraq and Afganistan, but we do not have our borders protected in our home country.

I say if we get attacked again like 911, and it turns out that these folks that did it entered across the southern border that all Senators, Congressmen, and even the President needs to be impeached. Their job is to protect us, and other than a few like Tom Tancraedo I don't see that happening, or see it haopening in the near future.

TGIF

Thank God it's Friday. Today I managed to get off early aagin and when I got home I managed to get a week ahead in all my classes. Wow that is a good feeling. I have final papers that will be due in all my classes do I will be able to start working on them in advance, which is a good feeling.

I was also able to get signed up for my Fall classes today. Every other time I have tried to sign up for the gerneral ed classes they have been full. Today was the first day and I managed to get into three of the classes I have not been able to get into in the past. That makes me happy as I will get them knocked out. It will be a shift in what I have been doing because none of these courses are related to my major, as in the past all of the classes were towards my major. At least its done and I am in.

Earlier in the month I challenge all the Neopets folks to play Plushie Tycoon. Well just to let you know my status, I had to restart tonight. Last week I was trying to play the game and do school work at the same time. I hired my workers but forgot to generate any jobs for the workers to work on, so I basically wasted 6300 points. I thought I could recover but it didn't happen so I had to restart.

Anyway I gave it a good shot to try and recover, but it wasn't in the cards.

Well I guess that is about it for tonight. I love the fact that I will be able to sleep in tomorrow. I hope everyone has a great weekend.

This is horrible

Earlier tonight and I heard this while watching Hannity and Colmes. I was horrified that this little girl Jessica Lunsford was buried alive and left to suffocate in her little 4 foot grave in a plastic bag.

Here is a link to the story:

Prosecutors: Fla. Girl Raped, Buried Alive

I guess Jessica's father is in Washington to get his state representatives to do something about the sexual offenders laws. With all the crap that has been happening there I guess they had better take a look at them. Every time I turn on the news, there is another child missing or found dead there.

I used to feel that publishing the names and everything about these sexual offenders was a violation of their rights and may have been going overboard. After sitting on the Erskine Jury and after seeing this case and a few others, I have changed my mind. Actually I think they should be locked up the rest of their lives.

Jessica's father is pushing for death penalty for child rapists and a greatly reduced appeal time. After all I have seen and heard on TV that these folks can not be cured, I find I agree. This Couey guy was already a registered sex offender, however the police and officials lost track of him. Somebody has to get this under control. I liked one of the suggestions that Jessica's father had. Give him life in prison, but put him in general population. I find that a great idea. Let the other prisoners take care of a scumbag like this.

Anyway I hope this post made sense. Sometimes when I get upset like I was to find this out, I tend to add a little passion to my posts and go a little overboard. This is one of those times.

There is one more thing that bothers me about this case and that is why were the autopsy reports released to the press. Her father was a little upset to hear that on the news, and I really feel for him there. Releasing these results to the press and hearing how his daughter died just brings back the pain of her loss. Sometimes news is not worth reporting and I think this was one of those moments. Well that is my rave for today. Hopefully I will have something nice to blog about tomorrow, but I just had to say something about this.

It's hump day

Wow, it is Wednesday, hump day and with the week I am having I can't wait until the weekend. Last night after blogging I went ahead and played a little on Neopets and Blogshares, watched House and a Law and Order SVU rerun and went to bed. That was when Ma RWO told me she needed to get up at 4AM for some conference call with some folks on the east coast. Well I went ahead and set the coffee pot to make coffee earlier than usual, and settled in for the night knowing that I was not going to get a full night's sleep.

I got her on up time and tried to get back to sleep. Well that didn't work out so good, but I did get a few more minutes of sleep. I did manage to get up and get to work on time though even though I did play a few games on the net this morning and left a little late. When I got to work there wasn't a whole lot to do. The class was testing out of antennas so while they were taking the test I worked on improving some power point presentations. I got off early again today and finished up the assignments that I didn't finish yesterday and got them turned in.

Now I just have group chat on our group project if anyone shows up. It looks like I will be the group again this week. It bothers me at times, but at least I know when I do it the assignment has been done right. This week I am annoyed, because I had to spend so much time on it. There is a bit more to do, but it is in their sections of the project and I would rather have them do their stuff so I don't leave anything out. I have a feeling I know what I will be doing tomorrow. Doing the rest of the groups part.

I do get to start teaching again tomorrow. We were going to send the class through DAMA, but since the guy that was going to teach it has duty today he will have tomorrow off, so I will be starting the class in OTCIXS. I love teaching and hate sitting around. So this will be fun.

I am happy to see that the Minutemen have stirred up the illegal alien thing again. Even the Governator is now saying something has to be done. They are draining 4 Billion a year from the California economy each year, according to the O"Reilly Factor. I think that Arnold now has seen one of the big reasons California is having a budget problem as he now sees where the state money goes, and is now for securing the border. Now is the San Diego City Counsel and Mayor can see what a toll it is taking on city money they might change their tune too! Somebody has to do something about this problem.

I have to mention this again. Left wing media, please leave the Pope alone. I guess the New York Times had 6 articles about the Pope and 5 of them were negative. Give the guy a chance.

I haven't really been keeping up with the Micheal Jackson case, but from what I have heard I think he is going to get convicted. I guess we will have to see what his defense team puts up, but I have a feeling that the damage has been done, even if the witnesses have been a little kookie.

Well I guess that is about it for today. I have to get on the group chat and stare at my blank screen and hope someone shows up. Have a great hump day.

Assignment from hell

Well I got off a little early today so I decided to knock out a couple of assignments for my classes. Well that was the plan, until I started working on our group project for the week. I figured it might take me an hour. We are doing it on Microsoft Project. I entered all of my workpackages in the past so all I had to do this time was add the material and manpower resources. Our project was supposed to be completed on Feb 2, 2006 and afetr entering all the jobs and everything it was right there. It was going to take 251 days.

Well I started entering the resource info and when I got done my project was 708 days long and was going to finish in Mar 2008. I just about put my fist through the screen. Anyway I started checking the dates of the starting and finishing parts of the project and found one where I somehow entered or changed a date to 2007 and that was all it took to mess up the whole thing.

It only took me three hours to find the mistake. Anyway now it is corrected and posted in the shared files section for the rest of the group to see. Now as long as one of them don't mess it up before Friday I am done with that.

But now due to that I still have work to do. Actually I think I will save that until tomorrow as I am starting to burn out for the day.

I am glad that they picked a new Pope today but disappointed in some of the press. They should get off his back and see what he does. Of course some of the left press would attack Jesus himself if he came back, so I guess it is to be expected.

Anyway, I guess that is about it for tonight. Oh, Happy Birthday Randine. I tried to catch you on chat but you logged off. I guess you didn't know I was on. Present will be on the way shortly.

Lack of posting

Well, I have managed to get myself busy again and have neglected my blog. School work has been coming hot and heavy, and with the kids gone all the time to work and school I have to help out a lot more around the house or live like a pig in a pig pen. I like cleanliness. Also with Ma RWO working too, I can't expect her to do it all so I have been pitching in.

Well the Mayor of San Diego, Dick Murphy has managed to make the Time Magazine list of Mayor's, as one of the bottom three in the country. He has been all over the TV saying they have just looked at the negatives and none of the good things he and his administration have done. Frankly I haven't seen where they have got much of anything done.

They have had their share of problems though, like the big fire a couple of years back, all the flooding from the messed up storm drain system, sewage spills, the pension crisis and the corruption cases going on against a couple of City Councilman. Granted it is not all Murphy's fault. The City Council is right up there with him in the blame department. I would like to see the whole bunch kicked out of office, but that won't happen. There are too many folks that want San Diego to be San Francisco South.

My gosh, I keep seeing these cruise ship survivors running all over and whining and crying about the heavy seas. They need to cruise the South Pacific on a Frigate or Destroyer during the Typhoon season, and they will see some heavy seas. Yeah, I guess I am being a bit harsh, but to hear them talk the ship was going under. Take it from someone who has been in really rough seas and had a severely damaged ship that had to limp back to port for repairs before being able to get underway again, there are bigger waves than they have seen out there. I am glad they didn't have anyone severely injured though. I have seen people seriously hurt in heavy seas and the injuries can be pretty bad.

I am kind of interested in the election of the new Pope. I hope they get one elected in the next couple of days. It must be driving all the news folks nuts with the secrecy involved.

Well I guess that is my thoughts for today after taking a brief break from homework, Now I have to get back to homework. Have a great day.

San Diego City Council Strikes Again

San Diego is broke and teetering on the brink of bankruptcy. Well today they were debating whether to raise the City's minimum wage from $6.75 an hour to $10 an hour.

Back when I was in high school I started out making minimum wage. As I started switching from job to job, I started landing jobs that paid above minimum wage. That is the way it works. You start out low and start moving up.

Well of course the San Diego City Council passed it. What it means is that anyone who works for the city, or contracts with the city will pay thier workers a minimum wage of $10 with benefits or $12 an hour without benefits.

Well, happy bankruptcy San Diego. And farewell Tony Young, you have lost a constituent. These people are so stupid I can't believe they got elected.

Now the city will have to pay more for sevices, more for thier workers, and the City does not have the money. So as you bleeding heart handout folks may have a happy night, and the brainless morons I saw speaking on the news say they can now raise thier families I would like them to look back at this night in a few months.

Minimum wage increases are not free. After they are implemented, the folks having to pay the higher wages must increase thier prices to cover the loss. They are not going to give it out of the kindness of thier hearts as they are in business to make money. So now everyone pays more for the services. This means inflation which means the prices go up. Now the folks that got the raises are right back in the same boat.

There are those that say this will not affect them but I have to beg to differ. Let's take the folks that clean up the offices. If they have a contract with the city they have to raise what they pay thier workers now. These same folks provide services to other businesses. The other businesses such as you local mall now have to pay more for the services so they will charge the businesses in the mall higher prices. The shop owners will get that back by raising thier prices. So everyone is hurt and everyone pays. Within a few months these folks will not even have thier games realized and may in fact have lower spending power for thier higher wages.

As the city goes down the tubes I have to laugh. These folks are still spending like it is going out of style. The way these floks are spending would have me tossed in jail. If I wrote a check for $5,000 and only had $1,000 in my bank I would be in serious trouble, but not the San Diego City Council. Spend, spend, spend. Maybe they will also go ahead and give themselves a pay raise before the city goes broke.

All I can say is I am starting to get happy feet. It is just about time to abandon this sinking ship.

Busy day

Sorry I took a few days off blogging. Wanted the house to look good when the wife got home. Can't sit next to the computer all the hours I used to anymore. I guess I am going up in age and don't have the energy that I used to have.

I went back to work this morning. The leg felt good and I had a fun but long day. I filled in for one of the Navy guys that had watch and his class was doing the Frequency Shift Keying and Phase Shift Keying Alignment labs. The labs are both very touchy as the equipment is co old, we do not use external frequency standards, and we secure all the gear over night.

I always like these labs, because this is one where you can dazzle the students with the knowledge gained over the years. It gives me a chance to show them a few tricks and amaze them when they get off track, by knowing exactly what they did. All in all it was fun. I spent the rest of the day updating and improving some of the Power Point lectures.

After that it was time to get busy with school. We are in the last five weeks of this semester and it is time to start knocking out the final projects, or at least get started with them. Thank God, there is no summer school.

I will not have much time to do anything but work and school for the next five weeks as it is getting hot and heavy in school right now as the semester winds down. As long as I don't blow it, things look as if I will get straight "A's" this semester.

I hope the dogs let me get some sleep tonight. They were very restless last night and kept barking at or with the dog next door. There was nothing out there so they must have just been discussing things in dog talk.

My oldest daughters birthday is coming up and I have to think of something cool to send her for her birthday. My youngest daughters birthday is also coming up but ma will handle that.

I haven't had time to check my usual hangouts so I am not quite up to speed with the news, other than catching Fox News on the fly. So I guess I will stay out of the political scene today. Anyway, everyone have a good week.

Today was homework day

Well today was get all the homework done day. In my Project Management Class we are using Microsoft Project. It isn't a bad program and I seem to be catching on with it pretty good. The only thing I hate is that they have us doing all kinds of minor detail stuff, to get us to exercise the program. Just like all Microsoft Programs, there are several ways to do the same thing and I am always worried about doing something dumb that will cause me to make a minor mistake with the assignment. So far I have been getting everything right though.

After that it was, hit the discussion boards. In both my Facilities Design and Management Class and my Operations Management Class I have the same instructor. He loves to use discussion boards. I wiould rather do it in live chat like we do with the Industrial Safety Manager's course. Anyway in the one class we have been discussing outsourcing as well as lack of technology gains in third world countries.

We have had some very interesting discussions about that. I believe that you can outsource the easy stuff, but when we make technological gains, we have to go in and entirely retrain the workforce. I believe that this will at least slow down some of the outsourcing in the future. As the technology gains grow outsourcing decreases until they catch up, then it increases again.

. In the other class we have been discussing Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, and ISO certifications. Kind of boring there.

Well I wonder if I will make it until the Pope's Funeral tonight. They are going to start broadcasting it at Midnight on Fox News. I guess it actually starts at 1AM, so I hope I can stay awake that long. Since I hurtt my back I have adjusted my sleeping hours and seldom stay up late like I used to.

Ma RWO called again from Sacramento. She says she is bored. I guess she has toured just about everything she could tour there, and wants to come home. I guess she also misses her dogs. I know they miss her. Phillippe, her oldest one has been sitting on the stairs looking out the window since she left. He only leaves when he has to go out and do is nature thing and to eat. He is really depressed.

I can't believe all the crap I have been seeing about folks being upset because the President is having the flag flown at half mast, because of the death of the Pope. It makes me wonder how low can some of the people in this country go. The Pope is a Head of State, though the Vatican is a small country. When a Head of State passes on the President has the authority to have the flag raised to half mast. Get over it secularists. The more I see this stuff come out in the press, the more I see that the radical left is going to die out. Why, you might ask? It is because day after day, this stuff gets into the press and ticks off more and more people who usually are not involved in politics. Don't forget, what happened to John Kerry when the conservatives started to wake up and say, "what is happening to my country?"
