Back to the blog

Took the weekend off blogging. I had to get some stuff done around the house and for some reason my leg was bothering me more than normal so I got a lot of rest.

Well it looks like I am going to have to go to my emergency backup plan for my safety class. I talked to one of the assistant managers at Ralphs and he is going to hook me up on Wednesday since that is their slow day.

It would have been better to do the shipyard but if I can't get in touch with them I'll never get in the gate. Oh well, that's life.

Finals are rapidly approaching and I am glad I worked ahead. I did have one funny thing happen. I turned in my stuff for this week last week. Well I got an e-mail from the instructor that asked me if I would give him points if he answered the questions. I had turned in the questions instead of the questions and answers. I had sent the wrong file. Lucky he has a good sense of humor.

I have made great strides in the completion of all my final papers. That will give me an easy finals week as all I will have to do is turn them in and take the tests. It will still be busy but more manageable.

Tomorrow we start a new class at work and I will be doing a lot of the teaching. It should be fun as we have a bigger class this time. In fact we will have to turn some folks away, as we can only handle 12 students and at last count we had 15 signed up.

Well I guess that is it for today. I hope everyone has a great week.

Presidents Press conference.

While watching the President's press conference I was struck by a few things. First, that there were no questions about illegal immigration, and that depresses me. He has to come clean on what he is intending on doing on the most important issue in the country.

Second, he said that he would encourage oil producing nations to export more. That will do nothing and he knows it. We can import all the oil we want, but until we have the refineries to process it, we are going to have shortages. This will not be solved for many years and he should have told us that.

Social Security, the welfare program for folks that could not save for their own future. I think he sold it well, and why not allow folks to put a portion in investments. It has already been proven to be a success in several cities. I have my own investments and my pensions so I don't need social security. I think that folks that make more should get less out of it, but at the same time I look at why do we need it at all. People that do not plan for their future deserve what they get and I don't know how anyone can figure on that program as their entire source of income. It is just not enough money. Investing a part of that will possibly produce a liveable wage.

After that he hit on Korea, and I agree, have China put pressure on them. And of course the other countries involved in the talks. Well that is tonights insight into my mind. Have a nice weekend.

Slap

I heard about this on the radio yesterday, but didn't see it in print until today. Now that I have the news link I will post it. It seems that one of the Spanish Radio Stations up in Los Angeles has put up some bulletin boards with the words Los Angeles, Ca, but crossed out the Ca and put Mexico in it's place.

With all the outrage that is being expressed in the press, Fox News and with the Minutemen this is just going to ad fuel to the fire. Yesterday on the Factor, Bill O'Reilly put out a survey result that 91 percent of American's think illegal immigration is a problem. I have blogged about the problem many times myself.

Everyday the news reports, well Fox anyway, brings up more and more crimes they commit or other outrages created by the Mexican Government. I am wondering if the United States Government will ever do something about this problem.

The statements made by the folks from the radio station show just how arrogant and blatant these folks for open borders are.

Executive Vice President Lenard Liberman said Noticias 62 was a popular news program in Los Angeles and noted that people of Mexican descent made up a large portion of the city.

"We tell the story behind L.A.., and we tell the story behind Mexico," he said. "If they find that offensive, I'm sorry. But you just have to drive around L.A. to know that this is a Hispanic city."

I find this attitude by this man particularly offensive. As I see our State and City go broke, our schools in a mess and hopitals closing I say enough is enough. Anyway here is the article.

Getting ready for finals

I managed to actually get a lot of work done on our group final presentation today. I figure if I do a page a day I will be all set for finals week. I still have to start on my final presentation for my operations management class, but I haven't picked a topic yet.

I might have to go to my emergency backup for my Safety Managers class. I can't seem to get much cooperation from my primary pick. We keep playing phone tag and the guy I have been talking to doesn't seem thrilled about me visiting. Maybe he thinks I am a spy or something.

I was watching the Governator on Hannity and Colmes tonight. I love the way he si set in his ways and will not back down. The Unions are spending millions spreading lies and propaganda, but he has taken it to the people, and despite all the polls and lack on news coverage except on talk radio Arnold has gathered enough support and signatures to get his plans on the ballot.

Roger Hedgecock and a group of folks are in Washington DC to talk to congress about illegal immigration. You would think that since 91% of the people think this is a problem that members of the government might sit up and take notice. But they are not. i am glad to see that Roger and the folks are taking it to them.

Well I guess that's it for tonight.

Got a lot of school work done

Well today I managed to actually turn in a term paper that isn't due until mid next month. I am trying to knock out these papers so I don't wind up in a time crunch during finals week.

I am really getting concerned about one paper though. I decided to do my final safety paper on National Steel and Shipbuilding's safety program. I got in touch with their safety department head and he agreed to let me visit but now I can never seem to get ahold of him to get a time set up. I hope I can catch him this week because I want to make my first visit this week. I hope it works out.

Besides that I am trying to keep a Ma RWO calm and happy. Women can act strange when they get the news that they have cancer and so I have to make sure I am understanding and supportive.

She actually was talking about moving out and getting an apartment so she wouldn't be a burden on the family. I nipped that one. She is sleeping now, which is good. Rest has to be good, I think anyway. I will have to talk to her doctor. Anyway I guess that is it for today.

Murphy resigns

Well some interesting news was on the radio while I was on my way home for lunch today. The embattled Mayor of San Diego had decided to resign. Here is the news story:

San Diego Mayor Dick Murphy resigns

I think this caught a lot of folks by surprize. I think he had to, with all the problems the city has been having and the fact that he and the City Council can't seem to do anything about it.

I have been blogging about it for months, along with some of the other odd goings on. I guess the Deputy Mayor will take over on the 15th of July provided he, Michael Zucchet, doesn't get convicted of Federal Corruption Charges.

All in all this is not going to be great news for the City, because as bad as Murphy has been, the others that have been trying for the office are worse. Also the City Council is a disgrace and as long as they are in office we will continue to watch San Diego circle the drain.

I think the biggest problem is that the city employees union is in the pocket of the City Council. San Diego is broke because of a messed up pension plan, and the union will make no concessions. In the meantime you have these folks voting to raise the minimum wages, and stuff like that. These folks have to go.

And of course who is going to run for Mayor, the city counsel members. Well at least Murphy I think looked at the future, realized he was on a sinking ship and decided to abandon it before it went down.

I just hope someone with some sense, and not in the union pockets will run so I have someone to vote for.

Miserable News

Ma RWO and I have been together now for 23 and a half years. Recently she has been sleeping alot and having to diet for a Gall Stone problem. Well now we have something more serious to deal with. She has breast cancer on top of the Gall Stone problem.

We don't know how far along it is, and I hope they caught it quick as it is supposed to be treatable if caught early. I guess we'll find out over the next couple of weeks. So if you are of the praying persuasion please pray for her good health.

Looks like we have to find a home for one of our poodles. He's a good dog but he has been bullying some of the others so we are looking to find him a home. I think if he were to not have any competition for attention he will make someone a great companion. I just don't want to have to take him to the pound as that would probably be a death sentance for him, and he is a good dog. He just doesn't get along with some of the others.

I guess that's about it for now. I am a little too depressed to write much more tonight.

Weekend

Well I am glad the weekend is here. I actually went to bed a little early last night and got up before I was really planning to. I was hearing a little bit of baby dog crying under the bed and when I checked sure enough our female had puppies again. Since I don't bend so good after hurting my back i don't know how many she had. I thought I heard two different voices, but when my daughter checked she thought she saw only one. Since we have a California King bed, she can get tucked quite a ways under there so I guess we will find out how many she had over the next couple of days, unless I can talk one of the kids to climb under the bed and get them.

After I got up I was a little lazy and decided to go get some breakfast at McDonalds rather than cook. I also had to gas up Ma RWO's car and with the gas prices the way they are now it is cheaper for me to gas up at the Navy Exchange. Ma has been lazy and has not gotten her ID card updated since I retired so I have to get the gas since they are asking folks to show ID's. On my way home I went to the drive up window and ordered a big breakfast with an extra order of hash browns.
Well I got home and low and behold, no extra order of hash browns. Normally this would be annoying and I would just blow it off, but it has been happening more and more frequently as I go to fast food places so I sent McDonalds an e-mail explaining why I will no longer be a customer.

Since the order is printed on the receipt, I see no reason for having my order messed up other than what I have observed at some of the other fast food places around town. It seems that when I go to fast food places anymore they are manned almost entirely by Hispanics, probably illegally here I might add. They don't speak English so the can't get the orders correct. As this happens to me I cross the places off my list of places to do business, and sent an e-mail to the corporate office.

Lately the Minutemen have been catching a lot of flack for patroling the borders in Arizona. They are concidered to be vigilantes. I don't think so, they are concerned citizens. The first line of defense as far al our contry goes is the borders. If we can"t secure our borders, we can't protect our country.

I have heard that the minutement are now targeting businesses that use illegals as a part of their work forces. I say go for it, and I myself am going to keep an eye out where I shop and where I suspect illegals are working, are places I will not shop.

Since the congress and the President can't seem to do anything about this problem, and as the silent majority are starting to awaken to this problem, as groups like the Minutemen are getting this problem some attention, some of these public officials had better take notice.

As out hospitals close, schools continue going in the tank and as long as you can not even get your order filled at a fast food joint, thier political futures are going to be in jeopardy. We are at war, and if we can't even keep illegal aliens from walking across our southern border, we are done for.

I find it funny that border patrol agents that are also reservists are highly sought after by the military to protect the borders in Iraq and Afganistan, but we do not have our borders protected in our home country.

I say if we get attacked again like 911, and it turns out that these folks that did it entered across the southern border that all Senators, Congressmen, and even the President needs to be impeached. Their job is to protect us, and other than a few like Tom Tancraedo I don't see that happening, or see it haopening in the near future.

TGIF

Thank God it's Friday. Today I managed to get off early aagin and when I got home I managed to get a week ahead in all my classes. Wow that is a good feeling. I have final papers that will be due in all my classes do I will be able to start working on them in advance, which is a good feeling.

I was also able to get signed up for my Fall classes today. Every other time I have tried to sign up for the gerneral ed classes they have been full. Today was the first day and I managed to get into three of the classes I have not been able to get into in the past. That makes me happy as I will get them knocked out. It will be a shift in what I have been doing because none of these courses are related to my major, as in the past all of the classes were towards my major. At least its done and I am in.

Earlier in the month I challenge all the Neopets folks to play Plushie Tycoon. Well just to let you know my status, I had to restart tonight. Last week I was trying to play the game and do school work at the same time. I hired my workers but forgot to generate any jobs for the workers to work on, so I basically wasted 6300 points. I thought I could recover but it didn't happen so I had to restart.

Anyway I gave it a good shot to try and recover, but it wasn't in the cards.

Well I guess that is about it for tonight. I love the fact that I will be able to sleep in tomorrow. I hope everyone has a great weekend.

This is horrible

Earlier tonight and I heard this while watching Hannity and Colmes. I was horrified that this little girl Jessica Lunsford was buried alive and left to suffocate in her little 4 foot grave in a plastic bag.

Here is a link to the story:

Prosecutors: Fla. Girl Raped, Buried Alive

I guess Jessica's father is in Washington to get his state representatives to do something about the sexual offenders laws. With all the crap that has been happening there I guess they had better take a look at them. Every time I turn on the news, there is another child missing or found dead there.

I used to feel that publishing the names and everything about these sexual offenders was a violation of their rights and may have been going overboard. After sitting on the Erskine Jury and after seeing this case and a few others, I have changed my mind. Actually I think they should be locked up the rest of their lives.

Jessica's father is pushing for death penalty for child rapists and a greatly reduced appeal time. After all I have seen and heard on TV that these folks can not be cured, I find I agree. This Couey guy was already a registered sex offender, however the police and officials lost track of him. Somebody has to get this under control. I liked one of the suggestions that Jessica's father had. Give him life in prison, but put him in general population. I find that a great idea. Let the other prisoners take care of a scumbag like this.

Anyway I hope this post made sense. Sometimes when I get upset like I was to find this out, I tend to add a little passion to my posts and go a little overboard. This is one of those times.

There is one more thing that bothers me about this case and that is why were the autopsy reports released to the press. Her father was a little upset to hear that on the news, and I really feel for him there. Releasing these results to the press and hearing how his daughter died just brings back the pain of her loss. Sometimes news is not worth reporting and I think this was one of those moments. Well that is my rave for today. Hopefully I will have something nice to blog about tomorrow, but I just had to say something about this.
