Well today I worked on one of my term papers for a while. I decided to take a break and lay down for a while and watch TV. Well I watched the Demolition Man and ran across something interesting. In the scene where they are reviewing the prisoner list to see who had been in to see the warden, just before they read Simon Phoenix (Wesley Snipes), they read Scott Peterson. Interesting since this movie was filmed in 1993. Anyway I just happened to catch that and figured since I don't really have much to blog about I would throw that out there.
I am bored with doing research today. I have been writing up my report on safety for my local Ralph's Groceries store. The manager wasn't very helpful so I am having to dig up stuff on the net. At least the USDA has a lot of resources and references for stuff like freezer and refrigerator temperatures. That was helpful and I have a good portion of the paper done. Now I am just a bit burned out on studying today. It will be great once these last two weeks of school are over.
Well, I suppose that is about it for tonight. I have to make sure I have everything ready for the workweek tomorrow. Since it is Mother's Day I amdoing the laundry for ma. I offered to take her out for dinner, but she wants to stay in tonight.
Anyway, to all you women that have children and visit my blog, Happy Mother's Day.

Well today was a lazy day. I got up early, and did a little school work and then just laid around and watched TV most of the day. I guess I was just tired after a busy week. The next two weeks are finals. I currently have "A's" in all my classes so I should do ok. I have a couple of major papers due and I guess I will finish them up tomorrow. I have been already working on them for a couple of weeks now.
It is going to be nice since I will not be going to summer school. I actually bought a bunch of ideas in blogshares today and I managed to pick some good ones. I also raided using all my artifacts and picked up a bunch of free ideas.
I have a great start on Plushie Tycoon for this month. My goal is to at least break a million in that this month. I did play a few games today, but as I said, I watched a lot of TV. Saw a few movies Like "Men in Black" and a few earthquake type movies on the SciFi Channel. What can I say, I actually like some of the cheesey movies on SciFi. Tonight is is "Law and Order" reruns. It is a great show and even the reruns are worth watching.
Other than that I just hope to have a nice restful weekend. I guess I am just getting old, but it feels great to just lay around some days. Anyway, I guess that is it for tonight. Have a great weekend.

I was just checking out Michelle Malkin's Blog when I spotted this:
SCHOOL TO SOLDIER'S SON: NO "CONVERSATING" ALLOWED!
I can't believe these school administrators could be so cold and callous. They should have heard him out and let him continue the call.
Early in my Navy Career, before Sailor Phone was installed on ships, and before they had the internet installed, I would call home when I could. It would sometimes be months between call, because when travelling in a battle group you just don't have one ship, you have a minimum of five and when they pull in all the phones in the immediate area are taken. I would usually wait until we would get to some huge port like Hong Kong to even attempt to make a call.
I am sure this is the case in Iraq right now. His mother may have had to wait days to get this call made, and to have the school hang up on her angers me to my soul.
I remember the during first Gulf War when I was stationed aboard USS Vancouver (LPD-2) having my feeling crushed because my wife wasn't home when I got to call home for the first time in months. We had launched our Marines and were anchored off the coast of Al Mishab, Saudi Arabia. A few days after the launch and once the war was over they allowed us to go pierside, though we were still manning our battle stations in case hostilities broke out again. While pier side the Captain allowed 15 people at a time stand down from General Quarters and take a truck ride to an ATT Phone Tent set up out in the desert. I remember waiting for hours to get my turn to go. The time came and we made a 15 to 20 minute trip out to the tent and then stood in line with all the Army, Air Force and Marine guys.
It took about an hour and a half to get to a phone and we were all limited to 15 minutes. I got my call in and my youngest son who was 7 at the time answered the phone. I asked him where mom was and he said she went to the store and would be home soon. So I talked to the kids until my 15 minutes were up. It was good to be able to talk to them buy my heart was broken to not be able to talk to the wife. Especially after she got the phone bill, which is another story.
That was the first and last time I had a chance to go to the phone tent as we got underway and back to our anchorage a day or so later. We then picked up our marines and just went from anchorage to anchorage for a month or so before we finally got to make a stop in Abu Dhabi, UAE and I was able to finally get in touch with the wife.
This is just one of the many stories I have from my past and phones. If I were to call and someone hung up and prevented me from talking to my family I would be furious. These administrators should wise up.

Well i got off early today and ran a few errands for the wife before coming home to knock out a few homework assignments due next week. i got all done with that and decided to check out my blog. Low and behold both my tag board and comments sections were spammed with that darned Texas Hold-um ads. I am really getting tired of deleting those darned things but I have been to cheap to upgrade my account to get blocking capabilities. I have a feeling I will be upgrading soon if this continues.
Since the comments effected were the older ones I ran across what I was blogging about this time last year. Last year at this time I was really depressed as I was right in the middle of Jury Duty on the Scott Erskine case. Last year since I couldn't blog about the trial though I was chomping at the bit to do just that, I blogged about politics, the war, Illegal Immigration, and other stuff. That was before I decided to go the kinder more gentle route and blog more about life. It is interesting to go back in time occassionally though to see what was going on a year or two ago.
Today I had run in's with a truck and two folks on cell phones just on my way home from work and the store.
I had to stop for gas and since the prices have gone up I have been filling up at the Navy Exchange Gas Station. That means I take a slightly different way home. I catch the I-15 North to the I-805 and then catch that south to Plaza Drive to go to the market. Well the I-15 was ok, but when I got on the 805 is was behind and on lane to the right of and 18 wheeler, and this guy was all over the road. It wasn't windy and there was no traffic so I don't understand why this guy couldn't stay in his lane. I decided it would be best for me to hang back and not try to pass the guy.
I got off at Plaza and there right in front of me is a guy in a white pickup weaving all over the road. He finally made a lane change, almost into a car next to him that managed to avoid an accident by slamming on the breaks. When I passed by the white pickup, you guessed it, cellphone.
I made it to Ralphs where I had to get a bunch of salad stuff for a pot luck Rose is attending, and on my way out of the parking lot almost got hit head on by someone trying to enter. How did that happen? They had one hand on the wheel and were holding the cellphone next to thier head with the other.
It is getting to the point where I am getting scared to go out any more. You never know if you are going to get run off the road or hit by these idiots that can't drive and talk at the same time. Well at least I made it home to loive another night.
I guess that is it for today. I hope everyone has a great weekend.

I was just checking out the World Net Daily and saw that Col. David Hackworth has passed away. I didn't always agree with what he had to say but he was a good advocate for the military in all branches and will be missed. I send my condolences to his family. Here are links to the announcement.

One pet peeve of mine was played out when we came home from going out last night. I was in a two way left turn lane getting ready to turn onto I-5 north. I was in the outside lane and when the light turned green started my turn. Next to me was a black Ford F-250. As we made our turn the guy in the pickup turned and ended up halfway into my lane and I wound up having to avoid him by swerving over onto the shoulder to prevent getting hit. When I looked over of course the reason for this persons erratic driving was the cell phone he had attached to his ear.
When we got home the wife went and took a short nap, while I blogged and played a few games on the net, along with a little bit of school stuff. Later she came downstairs and was complaining that the sudden movement of the car sideways had caused her to twist her back. She accused me of driving bad, until I told her about the pickup. Since she was on the passenger side she wasn't looking to see what was going on, over on my side, and she didn't mention anything about it at the time.
Anyway that brings me back to my pet peeve. I am sure you all have experienced it. Someone going slow and weaving all over the road, or someone driving with thier turn signal on for miles and miles, and sure enough, you get alongside them and they are talking on a cell phone.
I wonder how many accidents have happened because of these devices. We had a headline on here when our old city coucilman George Stevens hit a city bus. He didn't see it because he was paying attention to his cell phone.
I have heard many folks say that they can drive fine when talking on them, but the fact is they don't. I notice that when I am doing something like changing a cassette tape or radio station, I have a tendancy to drift. It is natural for you to move one way or another. I would like to see a law banning cell phones in moving cars (drivers not passengers). I doubt if it will happen, but something has to be done. I don't even carry a cell phone in my car.
Anyway that is my peeve of the day.

Well I just got done taking ma out to dinner. We went to El Torritos. It's a pretty goon Mexican Restaurant. The only problem is, they always give you so much food that you wind up bringing home a doggie bag. Anyway now we are both full and even had enough leftovers for lunch tomorrow.
Of course I kind of blew off group chat tonight, but since I have been the only one showing up for it I guess it didn't matter. I left a note for anybody that may have shown up.
I guess now Arnold is getting accused of being a racist because he supports the minutemen and wants the feds to do something about the border. I say go Arnold, he is starting to get the message that they are killing the state, and is trying to get the feds to do something about it. It is now racist in any way to want people who are here illegally kept out of the country.
The talk shows here have been buzzing with this subject and more and more folks are complaining. They do not just work in the fields which is the standard arguement, they are taking jobs in the fast food restaurants, the construction industry, and many other places. They are taking jobs away from Americans not taking jobs people don't want. People are starting to wake up to the fact that illegal immigration is a great part of identity theft, hospitals closing, crime rising, and school overcrowding. This has nothing to do with racism, it has to do with protecting our sovereignty.
As Micheal Savages always says, "Borders, Language, Culture". They were asking the County Registrar of Voters how much this special election for Mayor is going to cost and she had no idea. Her reason, "Well we have to print the ballots in four different languages, which makes estimating difficult.
The jury selection started for the trial against two of our City Councilmen for accepting bribes. This should be good. I will try to keep you up to date, but finals are coming.
The new Plushie Tycoon Game for this month started on Neopets tonight so get your factory started out and compete against Laila and myself. I didn't do well last month with my account, but I did play for the wife and got her a trophy, she gave me the points.
Well I guess that is it for today. My new class is large and it was a long day. I am going to call it an early night.

Took the weekend off blogging. I had to get some stuff done around the house and for some reason my leg was bothering me more than normal so I got a lot of rest.
Well it looks like I am going to have to go to my emergency backup plan for my safety class. I talked to one of the assistant managers at Ralphs and he is going to hook me up on Wednesday since that is their slow day.
It would have been better to do the shipyard but if I can't get in touch with them I'll never get in the gate. Oh well, that's life.
Finals are rapidly approaching and I am glad I worked ahead. I did have one funny thing happen. I turned in my stuff for this week last week. Well I got an e-mail from the instructor that asked me if I would give him points if he answered the questions. I had turned in the questions instead of the questions and answers. I had sent the wrong file. Lucky he has a good sense of humor.
I have made great strides in the completion of all my final papers. That will give me an easy finals week as all I will have to do is turn them in and take the tests. It will still be busy but more manageable.
Tomorrow we start a new class at work and I will be doing a lot of the teaching. It should be fun as we have a bigger class this time. In fact we will have to turn some folks away, as we can only handle 12 students and at last count we had 15 signed up.
Well I guess that is it for today. I hope everyone has a great week.

Presidents Press conference.
While watching the President's press conference I was struck by a few things. First, that there were no questions about illegal immigration, and that depresses me. He has to come clean on what he is intending on doing on the most important issue in the country.
Second, he said that he would encourage oil producing nations to export more. That will do nothing and he knows it. We can import all the oil we want, but until we have the refineries to process it, we are going to have shortages. This will not be solved for many years and he should have told us that.
Social Security, the welfare program for folks that could not save for their own future. I think he sold it well, and why not allow folks to put a portion in investments. It has already been proven to be a success in several cities. I have my own investments and my pensions so I don't need social security. I think that folks that make more should get less out of it, but at the same time I look at why do we need it at all. People that do not plan for their future deserve what they get and I don't know how anyone can figure on that program as their entire source of income. It is just not enough money. Investing a part of that will possibly produce a liveable wage.
After that he hit on Korea, and I agree, have China put pressure on them. And of course the other countries involved in the talks. Well that is tonights insight into my mind. Have a nice weekend.
