Well here I am again moaning and groaning about group work in school. Last week in one of my classes the group other than me was missing in action. I did the assignment all by myself, and aced it. the teacher realized that many were not participating and reorganized the groups. Again this week I did the assignment and not one person showed up. Well I'll get my grade but I am really unhappy about it.

I was so busy getting caught up on school work that once I managed to get caught up, I just played a few Neopets games and went to bed early.
I guess I only hav one thing on my mind besides school work and that is the blame game going on over the hurricane. First I started out sympathetic and made a donation to the American Red Cross right away. I then went through a period of mourning for the dead and dying. Now after seeing all the stuff that is going on with the politicians and all I am just plain angry. I am also angry at the news media. They aren't reporting on the good things that have happened. They aren't reporting on the folks taken in by the kind folks of the cities and states in the area.
No they are trying to pin the blame on the President and this is just wrong. Facts: The president can not constitutionally send troops into any area of the country without permission from the Governor of that state. The president declared the area a disaster area two days prior to it making landfall. He called the Governor asking her to evacuate her state. She balked, when she could have asked for assistance. This lady should be fired. Then there is the Mayor of New Orleans. He too had to be called and begged to evacuate his people. What did he do, told everyong to evacuate and then knowing that most of the people in the city were too poor to evacuate, he locked up all the busses in an area prone to flooding.
They ran this scenerio 13 months ago and found out that the results of today would happen. After the great failure 13 months ago they did nothing to correct the situation. They just counted on the New Orleans luck to get them by. After all they haven't been hit with the big one in 40 years. Well guess what, you can't avoid things forever.
And then the blamers of the Government. Just to lt you know the local and state folks are the first responders in a situation like this. Of course in New Orleans they are having to offer free vacations to Las Vegas to lure back the 60% that decided to dissappear when the going got tough. The federal government cleans up after the disaster not before or during, and can by law only come in when asked. By the time the Mayor and Governor decided they were in trouble and called in for help, much of it was on it's way to Mississippi and Alabama.
You don't hear the folks in Mississippi or Alabama complaining about lack of help. Why, because they got help fast and news crews were not able to find any Bush bashing stories there. New Orleans on the other hand is full of just what the press wants to show. Shootings, rapes, dead bodies are giving these clowns the visual props to try and persuade the people that the feds are at fault. I guess the feds could have cloud seeded it and changed it's direction? Maybe the could have mounted a big vacuum leaner on the international space station and sucked it out of there. Or maybe if they brought back all the planes from Iraq and Afganistan they could have them all enter the storm and fly against the wind and thus cause it to die down.
But then I did hear the real reason on a local radio show. The reason the government did't do anything was because they wanted it to hit hard so Halyburton could charge more for the cleanup.

Well today was the first day back to work and I had to do a little multitasking to get caught up with school work and keep my eye on my class at the same time. I was really lucky today as all they were doing was operational type labs, meaning operating the equipment, not troubleshooting. I was able to get all my work that was due today done this morning and posted at lunch. I was going to work on some more stuff that is due tomorrow, but everything keeps timing out on the work computer. I guess it is due to all the people on the LAN.
Anyway so I guess I will try to work a little ahead tonight, on the longer assignments that is. I need to relax after the trip. Isn't it wonderful how you take a trip for relaxation and all, and then wind up really tired from the drive home. Anyway my whole trip was pretty much driving from this place to that place and taking lots of pictures that I will post soon. I am having software disagreements with my camera and Windows 2000 Professional and also all the adware blockers, virus protection, and firewall stuff I have on there. The wife says I have to disable it all to get the software to load. She should know. Anyway once I figure it out, I am so computer slow, or get her to fix me up I will post some of the stuff.
Well, Lunchtime is over and it's time to get back to work. Have a great week.

Sorry for the lack of blogging. I decided to take a mini vacation, so I went up the coast north of San Francisco, and then traveled down California 1 on the coast just checking out the beautiful countryside. Anyway I am back and as soon as I catch up on school work, I will be back to blogging.

I am now getting fed up with some of the crap I have been seeing on TV about the Hurricane. There are people blaming Bush, blaming the government for slow responce and some even blaming Bush for the levees breaking.
It is time to clean up the area and get the folks to a safer spot. It is not time to blame folks. Use the energy you are expending toward raising money for aid.
This is the worst disaster that I can remember in my almost 50 years on this planet. Recovery for something like this is going to be slow. I have actually been impressed with the evacuations that have already been completed. While everyone was moaning and groaning about the government doing nothing about it, the Houston Astrodome was filling up with people. With the roads damaged and flooded it took a while for the busses and aid to get there and now what is has started coming in people are bitching that it took so long.
Even with pre-staged supplies you still have to have an open route to get the stuff there. You also have to remember that a lot of our National Guard are currently in Iraq and Afganistan and are not available for service here. And these numbers of people that I am hearing about. I am wondering if anyone bothered to listen to the evacuation order. If I remember correctly when they opened up the Superdome it was called a shelter of last resort.
If this many people had difficulties getting out the City, State and Federal Govenments should have bussed them out before the storm hit, not now after all that has happened. Of course it is easy to be an arm chair quarterback and comment about it after the fact.
If anyone is to blame, I would blame the victims as busses are cheap and if they would have taken the 20 bucks they spend at McDonalds and spent it on a bus ticket they wouldn't be in the position that they are in now. From what I understand the towns and cities that have taken in the people who have gotten out have been very supportive. I am so proud that I live in a country that has a city like Houston, that is doing such a great job taking people in and taking care of them.
I am also disgusted by the behavior of the looters and I am glad to hear that the National Guard has shoot to kill orders. I can see them taking food, but you can not eat TV's nor even use them as there is no electricity to operate them.
Well I guess I have sounded off enough for today. I do have one recommendation for all readers. Watch what you spend and save what you can as prices on everything are going to go way up in the future. Costs for anything that requires shipping are going to go way up. Also things made from petrochemicals are also going to go way up, as oil is going to be short. try and be prepared.

I got off work a little late today and on my way home heard that one of the levee's in New Orleans had failed and also that there was a lot of looting going on. Well as soon as I got home I turned on the TV and started watching the pictures. This is a shame, and I wonder if they should just consider leaving the whole area destroyed. I think it would be pretty unrealistic to rebuild it unless they can find a better way to protect it. I just get tired of watching my tax dollars wasted year after year because people build in bad areas.
I have mixed feelings on the looting. If they are taking food I think that would be more of a survival thing vice looting. It's the folks that took TV's and other stuff that should be arrested and prosecuted.
I feel worse for the folks in Mississippi as they actually took the brunt of the storm. They also had many deaths and the death toll is growing by the minute.
Please keep all these people in your prayers and also remember them if you have a few extra dollars in your pocket.

Well I have been neglecting my blog, and I am sorry about that. This semester has hit me hard and heavy with reading assingments and writing. This semester is going to be hard as I am not interested in the subjects I am taking, but then I have to complete them for my degree.
So I will do my best and try and keep the teachers impresed even thought as someone who is to the right, I don't believe in the liberal agenda being pushed on me. I have found that do to my disinterest in the subject matter I have to read everything several times to be able to get the subject matter.
Also there is group work in all three classes and I have only seen 1 person in one class contribute so far, and she was so wrong with some of the answers. Well I guess that's what you have to expect from group work though, and at least in one class I am not the entire group.
Anyway, I guess that is it for tonight. I have on heck of a sinus headache and afetr taking some aspirin I plan on hitting the pit. Have a great week.

My thoughts and prayers are with the folks in New Orleans and that whole area of Mississippi and Louisiana. I have been preoccupied with school work and a few other things and just happened to turn on Fox News. I usually don't keep up with the news on the weekend but when I saw this I just did one of those wow things.
I am really worried as I looked at the maps and hear these weather folks talking of the fact that New Orleans is below sea level and all. I find it hard to believe that many folks are going to ride it out in the city. I have a feeling there are going to be many deaths in this one.
They have been showing all the folks that will be riding it out in the Superdome, and it hasn't been tested through a cat 5 yet. I hope with all the flooding and all that those people are safe. Anyway I guess I will now keep my eye on this one.

School is affecting my ability to blog
Well, I am sorry I am posting late as I was pretty busy trying to get all set up for this semester. I am taking a bunch of general education classes this semester and they set up there courses different from the courses I have taken in the past.
This semester is going to be like a visit to the dentist. I am only taking three courses, but since I am required to take these classes to get the degree, I guess I will have to put up with it. I just can't stand the fact that some courses like the ones I am taking are required.
The first one is Bilingual Education, a requirement in the state of California. I know I could never state my real views about this one in class. I figure since California is in financial difficulties right now we have no business teaching in different languages in our school system. If you come to America the language is English. If you can't speak English then go home.
Next is a gender course. This is where I will be taught how to be more politically correct. Since there are now firemen and firewomen, we have to call them firefighters to keep from offending anyone. But what I wonder is does the fighter part keep everyone happy as it suggests aggression. Maybe we should call them fire putter outters.
The last course I am taking is aging. I have to talk to people over the age of 65 and see what they think about aging and what is going on in the world. They are not much older than I am now. Anyway, that is what I am taking and so far I am really bored with the whole thing. Oh well such is life in the College environment.
Next semester I will have to take a course on Mexican History. Why do I have to do that? Because the fine people in charge of the colleges and universities here in California are trying to make us more sensative to the plight of the illegal alien.
We keep getting told that we stole California, Arizona, Texas, Colorado, Utah, Nevada and New Mexico from Mexico. I was listening to something on the radio the other day and the Gadsden purchase was brought up. After the Mexican War the Treaty of Guadalupe-Hidalgo, signed February 2, 1848 gave the U.S. this land, but the Americans actually paid for this land. It wasn't much about $.33 an acre, but it was paid. Since the U.S. had won the war they could have gotten away with paying absolutely nothing and trated the area as spoils of war.
If the Mexican people are really upset about how they got screwed then they might want to look at Spain as the Conquistadores were the ones that killed off all the natives and by repopulating Mexico with Spanish seed developed the Mexican race.
