Sunday

Well Sunday rolled around and so we got up early and Laila, her mother and I all went to church.  We went to the little parrish across the street with the Italian Priest.  It was in Tagalog so Laila interpreted for me.  The message was basically to tell you to not be so self centered.

After church we went to McDonald's for breakfast and then over to 7/11 to pick up a few things.  We will go grocery shopping tomorrow after running a few other errands.

Today was another quiet day with one exception.  Laila's Internet has been really slow since I got here and I have not been able to open all the stuff I usually have on while playing.  We are only keeping the one Yahoo chat open to save bandwidth, but it is still running really slow.

She has been calling Bayantel, her provider, but they keep putting her off.  I guess we'll see what happens because she is getting more and more forceful on the phone.

It make the game difficult to play, but not impossible.  It is hard to play while the game is lagging as you don't know if the ships you just built were actually built or not.  Also when the game resets it makes your outermost fleet your fighting fleet by default.  Besides being embarrassed by attacking with an outer dummy fleet it can also be dangerous, as you could give an enemy a free retal.

Anyway tomorrow is Monday and we have a few things to do so let me get off here.

A pretty boring Saturday of just rest

Today we didn't really do much of anything.  Laila already had some groceries in the house though we will have to go shopping sometime in the near future.

We took some pictures of her new living room set to post on her blog and we played the game some.  We took several naps trying to get adjusted to the time.  She is used to sleeping later in the mornings and I am totally out of my sleep pattern.

Her mother is here so I made some macaroni and cheese to go with beef strips that Laila had made.  All in all we had a great dinner and we went to bed early so we could get up for church Sunday.

Well I made it

Well I made it to Manila and again the airline made it interesting.  We left San Francisco late, leaving at 11:30 PM instead or 10 PM.  They were skipping the refueling stop in Guam, and as a result we got into Manila at 3:15 AM instead of 5 AM.

I figured that it couldn't be that bad since I still had to get through customs and get my bags and all.  To my surprise my bags came up pretty fast and I sailed right through all the checkpoints and here I was standing out in front of the airport at 3:45 AM waiting for Laila who thought we would be coming at 5 AM.

A couple of times security came by to check and see if everything was ok.   I told them that since we landed early I would have a longer wait and they left me be.  Besides I was not the only one.

Laila arrived a little after 5 and we headed for home.  As soon as we got home I reset my DP in the game and then we took a long nap to try and get back on schedule.  We didn't go anywhere or do anything other than just watch some episodes of House and post OP for the fed.

Getting to Manila

Well I made it to San Francisco ok.  The plane ride up from San Diego was pretty uneventful.  I took off from work as soon as I had everything taken care of.  When I got home there was another message on the answering machine saying I had been assigned to an earlier flight.  I grew a little concerned and so to give myself a little more time I called Cloud 9 Shuttle and let them know I was changed to an earlier flight.  They said no problem and told me the driver would pick me up at 1:45 PM.

I then logged onto unification wars and got my empire reset, while I finished packing the last few items.  I ran upstairs and took a quick shower and then finished packing and took everything out t the front of the house.

The shuttle showed up a few minutes early which was cool and then I was on my way.  I got to the airport and the lady behind the counter there was a bit confused.  She told me I needed a visa to go to the Philippines for 21 days and I told her I was aware of that.  She then said that I didn't have a visa and I said I didn't need one.  I guess she had added wrong.  Anyway with that all straight I was on my way.  I only had to wait in San Diego about half an hour to board the plane.  Because it was another flight I lost my usual window seat and wound up in a middle seat so I couldn't look out the window the way I usually do.  It only to an hour to get to San Francisco and when I got there I went straight to the closed Philippine Air Lines counter and started waiting for it to open.

I thought they would open at 5 PM but I was wrong again.  They opened a little after 6 PM and while waiting I watched an episode of NCIS.  When the line opened I got through there really fast and then went to a place where I paid $7.50 for a salad and a coke and now I am blogging.

I forgot to mention, Philippines Air did it again.  They are going to fly straight through from San Francisco to Manila without stopping in Guam so we are leaving at 11:30 PM instead of 10 PM.

It will mean less time on the plane but more waiting at the airport here.  So I guess I'll continue to charge the laptop and maybe watch a DVD.

Ouch it just dawned on me.  I blogged today and forgot to post the entries.  It wasn't the only thing I forgot.  Just as I was getting ready to leave the house I set the alarm but didn't lock the door.  It dawned on me just as the van was about to leave.  So now I wait here at the airport.  I wish I would have known they were going to delay this flight.  I could have stayed home a little longer and got some other stuff done.

Well I guess I will watch a DVD and try and kill some time.  I am hoping this flight is not entirely full like the last time I flew in the middle of the week so that I may get a chance to lay down.  I guess we'll see, but it looked like the line was getting pretty long.

So next stop Manila and Laila meeting me at the airport.  So my next post as well as these posts will be from there.

Will be on my way soon

Well departure day has finally arrived and so I am here at work just trying to get any loose ends tied up that need to be taken care of.   I will then go home pack the few last minute things and then catch the shuttle to the airport.

Whatever bug I had yesterday is gone now so that is a good feeling.  I actually woke up early this morning and was downstairs about 20 minutes early.  Laila and I got our prayers done early and I left right on time.

The ride in was interesting.  When I got to the I 805 this car beside me was changing lanes all over the place.  I hung back a bit to give him room and he weaved into my lane.  The guy didn’t change lanes he weaved into it.  He took the same exit that I took and when we got to the stop light, after watching him weave all over the exit ramp, I saw why he was weaving.

This guy was reading a newspaper while driving.  I could not believe it but I saw him clear as day when I was at the light.  I wonder what kind of person would endanger the lives of so many people by being so irresponsible.  It is unbelievable or as Laila would say shocking.

Well the latest insult to humanity has been released up near the San Francisco Bay Area.  They are holding some kind of gay festival, I think it was called the Folsom Summer Fest or something like that.  They produced an advertisement depicting the Last Supper, where Jesus and the Apostles are all decked out in gay clothing and are half naked.  The body and blood of Christ were replaced with sex toys.

I guy this thing is being sponsored by the Miller Brewing Company and well as the tax payers of San Francisco.  It has people nationwide outraged since it was featured on Fox News last night and on a few of the talk radio shows.  This morning Rick Roberts offered free advertising on his show for any business that either stops selling Miller products or raises the price to where people will not buy Miller products.

I guess Miller has a history of sponsoring unpopular causes as last year they sponsored a rally in support of illegal immigration in Chicago.  I hope the boycott of the Miller products works, as it is about time corporate America gets the message that you can’t tick of mainstream Americans for a minority of whacko’s and still survive.

I don’t mind people being gay as long as they don’t push it on me or my family.  It is a preference like anything else.  I am tired of the “in your face” stuff like the Gay Pride Parade and the gay nights at the ball park.  I am tired that they demand more rights than others and I am sick and tired of continually hearing more and more politicians caving to their agenda.

The majority of Californians have spoken at the polls where 62% of San Diegans alone voted that marriage is defined as one man and one woman.  Yet the City Council and the Mayor of San Diego has decided that the voters don’t count and joined a growing list of Cities that have said screw the voters, we’ll just do what we want.  It is time to vote these idiots out of office.  People need to wake up and see what these folks are doing.

Well I suppose that I had better get this closed, saved and ready for posting.  I have a few things to do before I head out today.

I’ll write my usual airport post as I am on the trip and give you all the highlights and low lights.  The next post will be from Manila I hope.

Under the weather

Well here I am, one day away from leaving and guess what happened?  I got sick.  I don’t know if it is something I ate or what, but I was sick as a dog last night and as a result I got up a few minutes late this morning.

I didn’t let Laila know this morning because I didn’t want to get her worried.  I took some antacid tablets, skipped the morning coffee and came in to work.  I am not at 100 percent but I will be fine.  I think it is just something I ate.

I have so much to get done today and none of it is work related.  I have to get some last minute items from the store that I forgot.  I still haven’t written the checks for the bills for the first.  I did reserve my airport ride and got that all take care of.  So today I have to stop by Best Buy and Ralph’s on the way home today.  Time has run out so I have to do everything today.  At least I have most of the stuff ready to get packed.  It is just the running around part I have to get done.

Today we have a new class starting up.  My class just did a call in muster because we didn’t have enough classroom space and they were completely done with everything, so we let them stay home.  It looks like we might have to start a night shift for a while because we have another class starting Monday.

Well I guess I will keep this brief.  I am still feeling a bit uneasy with my stomach so I am going to go drink some water and see if that helps.

What a morning

This morning sure has not had a great start.  I went to bed fairly early for a Sunday night and so I got out of bed a little earlier than normal this morning.  Laila and I got our morning prayers in and I got reinforcements posted in the game before heading off to work.  There was more traffic than usual all the way in and I also got stuck behind a school bus on the way from the freeway to the place where I turn to go to the gate so that was a bit of a pain.

Then when I got close to the place to turn they had the road blocked off for construction so I had to take a few side streets and finally got to the back gate which was also all backed up.  So again even though I left early I managed to get to work on time but about five minutes later than I am used to.

So now I run up to get ready to give the post test and get the class to fill out the end of course critiques.  I found out we didn’t have enough answer sheets and I would have to make copies of the end of course stuff.  So I gathered everything up and off I went to the copier downstairs hoping that it was not in use.

I got there and no one was there so I went ahead and got everything in the proper order, programmed the copier and pressed the start button.  It said the fuser was not fully seated and to pull it out and put it back in.  I did that several times and still it wouldn’t work so I dragged everything upstairs and had to make the copies on our three in one copier/printer/scanner.  That took forever and the first time I tried to make a back to back copy I messed it up and had to redo some.

I got that all done and went over and gave everything to the class to fill out and found that I had missed a page so I had to go back to the printer again.  Anyway, finally I have that all done, the class is gone and I am keeping an eye on the junior class for a bit while their instructor is doing his end of the month reports.

I still have a bunch of stuff to do tonight.  I have to get the bills ready for my daughter to mail while I am gone and have to run a few more errands.  Also I will be leaving before my daughter gets out of school and work so I need to make arrangements to get to the airport.

So up until the time I get going on the trip I will be pretty busy.  But I am excited about getting back and spending some time with Laila and we both could use some rest.

I guess I will get this saved now and get back to work.

News and a bad start to the day

Wow what a news day yesterday and what a terrible start to the day.  I guess I will start with some comments about some of the news stories from yesterday and then roll into the interesting time I had getting to work this morning.

The first news item is of course the O J Simpson thing.  I guess he was able to make bail and flew back to Florida and it was interesting that he flew coach.  I guess he can’t afford to fly first class any more, and I wonder if he will have enough money to hire a dream team to get himself out of his latest legal troubles.

Next was the clown that got the taser gun used on him at the John Kerry speech.  A lot of folks are saying the campus please used excessive force.  I think since he was a big guy and he was fighting back kicking and swinging that they were justified.  On my way home Michael Savage had another take, but I still believe they were justified, but I do respect Savage’s opinion that it should be investigated.  I think it was just a stunt for the kid to get a video clip for more traffic on his website myself.

I guess the president of Iran (I will not even attempt to try and spell his name) wants to lay a wreath at the site of the World Trade Center.  I guess it must be to mourn the loss of the terrorist hijackers.  I don’t know why we are even letting this guy into the country.  We should just arrest him for crimes against humanity a soon as his plane lands.  Why are we going to allow this guy go before the General Assembly of the United Nations and trash the United States and all it stands for?  Especially since the United Nations is located in New York City.  It will just give him bragging rights for his terrorist buddies, that he came here and used our freedoms to trash us.

I can just imagine if this guy tried this crap in Russia, China, or even Mexico, where he trashed their government in a world wide forum.  He would not leave alive or would never leave.  I am glad that the authorities in New York denied permission for him to go there though.

Then last night just before I went to bed while watching the local news to find out about the weather I see the Mayor of San Diego crying like a baby as he was announcing that he will support gay marriage and not veto the city councils passage of a bill for same sex marriage.  This guy needs to resign now.  I did not elect this guy to go against the voters and side with special interest groups.  Yeah they are a lot of gay people in San Diego but they are clearly a minority.

A few weeks ago the city had a law suit started by straight firefighters who were forced to attend the gay pride parade.  Now San Diego is pushing through this gay marriage thing.  Our Fire Chief and District Attorney are openly gay.  The Mayor told everyone his daughter is gay last night.  He also mentioned many people in his cabinet are.  Has the city government of San Diego been hijacked?

I am not against gay people having the same benefits as married people.  I am against the term marriage and would accept civil union. That doesn’t seem good enough for these people who keep trying to force acceptance of their lifestyle down everyone’s throat.  I wonder if it is an insecurity thing with these people or what?  Just saying they are married is not going to mean automatic acceptance of their lifestyle.

Anyway this morning listening t talk radio people in San Diego are calling for the immediate resignation of the Mayor.  San Diego is not nearly as left wing as San Francisco and while some crazy program or act by Gavin Newsome will gather praise from the masses in the Peoples Republic of San Fransicko, that stuff will not fly here in San Diego.

A few of the callers think that the gay and lesbian groups have some dirt on him and may be forcing this issue.  I guess that could be true and maybe it is not.  Maybe he did have a change in heart but as the leader of a city he is responsible for enforcing the will of the people, not force his own views down our throats.

This is just a few of the latest Jerry Sanders failures.  He denies San Diego  is a sanctuary city while anyone with any common sense knows it is.  The water and sewage disaster is still ongoing.  The city is still having a serious financial crisis and now this.  It is time for him to go.  I hope to hear he resigned while I am on my way home.  If he doesn’t resign I will sign on with any recall group to recall him and get him out of city government.

Well enough on the news of yesterday.  This morning when I woke up it was raining. It was just a light drizzle and it should pick up over the next couple of days as a major storm rolls through, but just a little drizzle is enough to ruin driving here.  In between watching the Mayor balling his eyes out on TV and the cooking tips of the day they showed a major accident on the 805 freeway between Plaza and 47th street.  It involved a big rig that had jackknifed and flipped over blocking three lanes on the southbound side.

Even though it was on the southbound side the northbound side was backed up for several miles as all the people going north were slowing down to get a good look.  Well since I get on the freeway at Plaza to go to work and get off at 43rd street I left early and skipped the freeway all together.  It took a little longer to go that route, but I would still be sitting on the freeway if I didn’t use the surface streets.

So then I got to work and the CPO selectees were selling breakfast burritos on the quarterdeck so I bought one.  When I bought they asked us if we had a microwave oven which we do and they sold me one that was cold, so I could pop it in the microwave as soon as I got upstairs.  When I got upstairs and all and ran over to pop it in the microwave oven it was gone.  Seems ET1 lent our microwave to the CPO selectees to use on the quarterdeck.  So I guess I will have it for lunch.

Well I guess it is that time to get this wrapped up and saved for posting later.

1 week to go

Well only a week to go and I will be off to Laila’s for a few weeks.  I am looking forward to the break and getting some rest.  Not that I don’t like my job or anything, quite the opposite, I love my job.  I just need the rest after taking a class though, and especially lately where our shortage of manpower has kept me really busy.

Yesterday I could have sworn that Rick Roberts said something about not dwelling on the O J Simpson arrest and all, but this morning his show was about, yup you guessed it, O J Simpson.  So I switched over to the Laura Ingraham show where she was talking about Iran.

I also had to turn off the Fox News Channel after the majority of their programming was highlighting the O J case.  If the press would ignore this clown and the justice system would lock this menace to society up for good the world would be a nicer and safer place.

Instead the media is going to turn this into a three ring circus like the last trial was and somehow he will get off again.

I also found the other story pumped up by the news quite funny.  John Kerry was giving a speech at some University, in I think it was Florida, when one of the students got out of hand.  The guy was wrestling with police and swearing.  Finally the college police used a taser on him and carted him off.  What was funny was that this was a left wing wacko who I guess does this stuff all the time to get attention as one of the news agencies checked out his website.  He was probably even a Kerry supporter which makes it that much funnier.

San Diego has made another of the countries lists, this time we are in sixth place for traffic congestion, another list that I would not like to be on.  They say the average San Diegan spends 57 hours a year stuck in traffic on the freeways.  I don’t think it would be so bad if they would take the 95 percent of the transit money that they spend on the trolley and bus system and use it to widen the highways.  I enjoy seeing the empty busses paid for with my tax dollars running around all the time.  In fact the transit system is losing so much money on the busses and trolley system that they are raising the rates.  That will really help, out the poor and elderly folks that seem to be the only ones that ever ride it.

Well I guess that is about it.  I need to run over and put some gas in the car.  I like doing it during lunch because there are no lines.

Well I am back from the gas station and decided to write a little more.  Today I saw maybe one of the dumbest people I have ever seen.  I was at the gas station and they have two pay windows.  Normally only one of them is open at a time.  Well the lady who was driving a mini van was at the front of the next line over had finished pumping her gas and went to the window to pay.  From where I was pumping mine I could not see her but the guy behind me did and called over to her.  I guess she was standing in line at the closed window.  I don’t know how they let people that dumb get a license.

When I got back to work I noticed a sign on the door that they have raised the security readiness level.  I wondered what was up and after asking around found out that they will be doing drills and all.  They may even close the base over the next couple of days so that would be a free day off.

I heard on the radio that the judge set O J Simpson’s bail at $125,000 and with that low amount I wonder why they even bothered requiring bail.  They should have just let him out, it is not like he is going to be able to go anywhere.

A little ticked off

I am a little bit ticked off right now and so the easiest way to get rid of anger is to of course blog about it.  For the past several weeks one of the federations has been hitting our lower members and the lower members of the allied federations.  As one of the higher level empires in our federation I have been hitting them back when the occasion arises.

Well over the weekend some of the leaders and LT’s of the different allied feds got together and we decided to do something about it.  Last night was the time set up for us to attack and after making sure we had enough OP posters and all we all put a couple people out to attack this fed.

All was well until one of our guys started putting the people we were trying to attack in and refusing to hit others.  He then went on a tear DPing all kinds of other friends and trashed our entire reset time for the evening.

I wound up not being able to go out until after 10 PM and as a result had to leave my empire unattended and out so I could go to bed.  I have to get to bed no later than 11:30 or there is no way I will get up on time for work and prayers with Laila.

So now friend or no friend I am considering kicking this player out of the federation since his loyalties are elsewhere in the game and he could care less about team mates.  I will talk to Joe and Sam about it today when I get home, but I have had enough of this kind of crap.  If you join a fed your loyalties lie with the fed and not people that are attacking your fed mates.

So I guess that is enough on that and on to something completely different.  OK so O. J. Simpson is in jail again for armed robbery and now it is all you see on the news.  Please get that wife killing jerk off my TV set, because I don’t want to see it.  By covering him 24/7 you are only feeding his ego.  Just pull all the reporters and get rid of all the cameras because no one cares about this double murdering piece of crap.  Just let him rot in jail and leave him be.  Not being in the press all the time would be punishment worse than death for this ego maniac.

So everyone is all shocked that the Emmy Awards turned political and that Ray Romano and Sally Fields got beeped out.  Well I never watched Ray Romano and now I never will and Sally Fields has made my do not watch list with Ed Harris, Susan Sarandon, Tim Robbins, Richard Gere, Danny Glover and a few others.  I don’t need these people and when I see them on my TV my stomach turns so why watch them.

They do not appreciate the country that gave them the opportunity to gain their wealth and popularity so I say to hell with them.  Let them go live in France or some other socialist country.

Oh and I guess Hillary care is back on the table.  Let’s see, so Joe Blow who doesn’t have a job or has made that career choice to work at McDonalds for his career can’t afford health care.  I on the other hand who have been working all my adult life will now have to pay higher taxes because Joe Blow was to lazy or too stupid to advance himself into a job that provides him the means for getting health care.  And I am sure Hillary’s plan will of course provide health care for all our illegal visitors.

Socialized health care does not work, ask anyone from Canada or England.  When it takes six months of waiting to get to see a specialist because the government has now taken it over then lets see how happy you are with Hillary care.

Well I guess that is all for now.  I have gotten myself calmed down and will now go watch the fun in the lab.
