Dental work

I just got home from the dentist so blogging will be light today as I am sure once the pain medication wears off, I will be hurting for certain.

Today I had the base of my implant inserted (lower right side).  First they drilled a hole in my jaw bone, and then he screwed it in with a ratchet type device.  It was pretty painless and all, while they were doing it.

I stocked up on alot of soft food and will try to eat when I get hungry.  Anyway, I will now lay down for a while and hope that this does not hurt too bad.

Tomorrow is the day

Well tomorrow is the day where I will be getting my dental implant, something I have been dreading for a while because I know it is going to hurt and I will be on vicotin for a few days.  It always makes me drowsy, and does not seem to do much for the pain.  I took the day off work because my appointment is in the morning.  I have plenty of sick days on the books, and I cleared it with my boss already.  I may have to take Tuesday off too, but will have to wait and see.

This morning it was great to have company at church.  Laila went to bed and my daughter, her fiance, and I all went to the 9:30 mass.

Today was the 26th Sunday in Ordinary Time.  The first reading was
Numbers 11:25-29.  The second reading was James:1-6.  The Gospel was Mark 9:38-43, 45, 47-48.  Father Vano gave the mass today and started out with a story about his father.  His father had managed to catch an infection in his leg last week and the doctors were considering cutting off his leg.  His father did not want that to happen and said he would rather die first than lose the leg.  After a lot of prayer they managed to cure his father by cutting out the infection and saved the leg.

He said that the passages from Mark kind of reminded him of that.  He also said to not take the passages literally, where Mark was talking about cutting off your hand if your hand sinned, or your leg, or eyes.  He said it was written for dramatic purposes.  Besides I wouldn't have any body parts if we were to do this.

After that he changed the theme of the mass to tolerance for other religions and other people.  I think this is because of the stuff going on with the Pope.  Father Vano also praised the work of Pope John Paul II and all the trips he made around the world trying to get people from all religions and backgrounds to get along and tolerate one another.

After church I was going to treat everyone for breakfast, so we set off for Hometown Buffet.  The line was backed up into the parking lot, so I tried International House of Pancakes and saw the same thing.  I went up the street and was going to stop at a place called Jimmy's, but they went out of business and I decided we would just grab something and take it home.

Besides, that way I could catch the 2nd half of the Charger/Ravens game, so we went to Jack in the Box after I gave them several choices of places to stop.

When we got home they ate and then went off to one of the Indian Casino's with the ex and her live-in, and I watched the Chargers snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.

Yesterday I really had an interesting trip.  My dentist wanted me to get something called Arnica, that is supposed to help with the bruising.  They suggested I buy it from Henry's Market.  I went online and found that the closest three were in Bonita, Lemon Grove, and La Mesa.  Since the divorce I avoid the Lemon Grove, and La Mesa areas so I went to the one in Bonita.

The only problem was that I didn't know that Bonitafest was yesterday and all the roads were blocked off and there were people and cars going everywhere.  The 20 minute trip wound up turning into a 1 hour trip, but I did get the Arnica, and found a whole bunch of new Philippine Restaurants.  Always nice to find them so that when Laila comes here we can check out different places, even though I know she is dying to go to Jack in the Box.

Well I guess that is it for now.  I am going to lay down and watch TV for a while.  I went to bed late and got up early so I am going to get a little rest.  I got most of my chores done yesterday.  Have a great week everyone.

Not a typical Saturday

This morning after chatting with Laila until she went to bed a ran down to the post office to get the mail.  The idiot light lit up reminding me that I was almost out of gas so I quickle ran down to the Navy Exchange Gas station and filled up the tank.

While I was at the pump I was behind some reitred guy much older than me.  He was having difficulty walking and even handling the pump and all.  We both finished about the same time, but I had paid at the pump with my American Express while he had to pay at the window so I had to wait a while for him to come back.

When he did come back I found that he also drove like he walked, really slow and since he was going left out of the exchange I decided to go right and just take another route home.

Earlier today I had heard that there was going to be a big anti-illegal alien rally in National City, after their Mayor officially declared it a Sanctuary City.  He did this on his own and without a vote of the City Counsel, and basically has a "I can do what I want because I am the Mayor, and they are not" attitude.

Anyway, now the minutemen have come to National City to voice thier opinion.  I was going to grab a flag and go myself, but they had a rally last week and some violence erupted. Laila told me to stay home so I decided I would listen to her.

Anyway the rally was supposed to be down by the National City Mail Library in a park.  Knowing that the streets would all be blocked off in that direction I took 8th street which is a couple of miles from where the rally was being held.  When I got to National City Blvd there was a large group of people holding the National Flag of Mexico.

They had all kinds of signs and all, and I was wondering why the border patrol and INS were not there rounding them up.  This is not Mexico, and I am tired of seeing the Mexican Flag being paraded around in my country.

These people want to break out laws, and then flaunt the fact that they are here.  And they are being enabled by crooked politicians like Mayor Inzunza.

When they are successful in taking over the United States and turning it in to a third world hell hole just like Mexico is, I guess the Canadians had better watch out because they will be next.

The legal residents of this country had better wake up and demand that something be done and fast.  The illegal aliens are getting bolder and bolder.  If you read World Net Daily, every day there are more and more incidences of crime commited against citizens of this country by people that are here unlawfully.

When I read about a police officer in Houston being shot in the head four times by a illegal alien that had been in jail for a variety of offences and was deported, and then I see the Mayor of Houston and the police Chief in Houston still support being a Sanctuary City I am dumbfounded.  It is time we bounce all these politicians at all levels of government out of office.

When I see people agains showing identification at the polls, I now suspect I know how people like Inzunza got elected.  He had to have benefitted by the illegal alien vote.  One thing I am thankful to see is that as I drive through National City and see all the candidate for mayor signs I have not seen one with his name on it.

Well I have vented on that one enough for today.  Yesterday I was startled that someone posted a picture of
Michelle Malkin in a strig bikini that was definately a fake picture, and she was blowing up all over her blog about it.  She did leave the picture up on her blog.

I noticed today she was a little more quiet about it.  I think she should quietly take whatever legal action she may be able to take and not dignify thier attempts to insult her as that just adds to thier blog traffic.

And I was also shocked to hear that congressman Foley, a fighter for children's protection from sexual predators, is a preditor himself and had to resign from office.  I hope they prosocute this guy to the full extent of the law and I also hope the leftists see that when someone on the right screws up they resign.

Well time to get some meaningful stuff done for the weekend.

Very busy day

Usually Fridays are pretty quiet, but not today.  Before I talk about that I guess I will go back to last night.  Right after I got home from the dentist, my daughter arrived from Maryland.  We helped her unpack and put all her stuff up in her room.

She brought her cat and he is somewhere in the house but we have looked high and low, and have not been able to find it.  I guess it will come out of hiding when it gets hungry.

Judy, Carlos, and David all went over to the ex's house last night for a visit.  When they got back we all sat around watching TV along with Laila and her kids in the Philippines.

Laila and I watched "Armageddon" last night and then "Deal or No Deal" before Laila departed to buy food for the wake.  She was also trying to convince Pearl into going to the doctor to get her burn looked at.  Pearl hates to spend money and did not want to go.

After talking to my son last night I went to bed.  He kept talking half the night and I finally just had to get some sleep.

I got up a few minutes later than normal and got ready for work, said prayers with Laila and then left for work.  I dropped David off on the way and got there in plenty of time.

I taught until 10AM when the class had to go to take their urinalysis.  I hung out to attend the weekly meeting in th e other building and also did the weekly paperwork to submit to my boss.

I then was getting ready to write my blog entry for the day but then I would up helping work on an antenna system with one of the other instructors.

We then got a phone call that someone from the depot would be by, to swap some equipment with us so I then went and removed the equipment from the racks and put it on a cart.  I then went back to helping work on the antenna until the guy came.  He didn't show up until 1:30 and I then installed and checked out all the gear.  It all worked and I finally headed for home about 2:30.

Now I am waiting for Laila to get up, but that won't be for a couple of hours.  So I guess that is all for now.  Time to start the weekend.

I was going to cook today, buy since I am really tired from moving all the equipment I think I will cheat and just go buy something.

A bad night

Last night was one of the more anxious nights I have had in a long time.  The night started out quiet enough, but then when all the stuff happened it all happened so fast.

When I got home yesterday I took my 1000 mg of Vitamin C which upset my stomach even though I had a full meal before hand.

Laila came on line and then the phone calls started coming fast from her family.  I guess the hospital where Alexandra died would not release the body until the bill was paid in full.  Her brother didn't have it and I guess the family took up a collection to get it paid.

Between all of the family and Laila they managed to scrape the money together, and Laila, her sister and Pearl set out to the hospital to claim the body.

There was a problem though, a typhoon was passing through Metro, Manila at the time and so here they are, out riding around town in a taxi in a typhoon, trying to get everything taken care of.

She texted me as she progressed but with the power going out all over the place, and cell phone problems things were intermittent.  I have to say that I was really scared for their safety, and couldn't go to bed until I knew they were safe.

They made it close enough to home about 1 AM my time and I went to bed.  This morning I got up a little late, but with plenty of time to get to work.  I could not get ahold of Laila, because her power was off.  When I came home for lunch and a dental appointment I saw that she had text messaged me that everyone was fine and they were just leaving the funeral.

She did say tha Pearl spilled some coffee on herself and recieved a bad burn.  I hope she is all right.   So now they are all home and safe.

I hope when I get back from the dentist this afternoon that she will be able to come on line.  The Typhoon went right through her area and there was damage.  I hope they get her power back on.

Anyway, time to get ready for the dentist and also I hope my daughter will get here before I have to leave.  I also hope I never have a repeat of last night.

Sad news

Well we have had another bad day.  Last night I was all set up to record the nightly television shows for Laila to watch later.  She had a court date scheduled so that we can start getting some of this legal stuff out of the way so she can come to the States.

She left bout 6 PM my time and I kept Chikka on so that she could text message me at home.

In the meantime I had a bunch of paperwork to do for my new class so I knocked out what I could of that and watched a movie, while waiting for her to contact me.  About 7:30 she called me on the phone, but I guess her cell phone dropped because we could not hear each other.

She got home about 7:45 my time and so I didn't have to record anything for her.  She said the court date was moved to October as the Judge was out of the country.  She still had to pay an appearance fee, and I have to tell you, I am getting really sick of all the delays and additional costs involved.  You would think that if the Judge was not going to be there, they would notify the parties involved in ongoing cases know that before they waste the time and expense to appear.

Anyway my son cooked some Carne Asada last night and I ate that, but was feeling a little rundown and tired.  We watched "House" and the two "Law and Order" shows.  Sometime during the night she got word that her niece had been admitted into the hospital for dengue fever and needed a blood transfusion.  She was still trying to find out more information about what was going on, when I went to bed.

This morning I woke up really early.  I was having to go to the bathroom a lot and had heartburn, probably from the Carne Asada my son made.  I tried to go back to sleep but lay awake thinking if the court cases would ever get over so that Laila ad I can get legally married soon.

I got up when the clock went off and actually got ready for work and all before my coffee was even finished brewing.  I went over to fire up chat, but I guess I got another of those Microsoft updates that rebooted my PC.  Since I have it password protected it will only boot up as far as the windows log on screen.

Anyway I finally got my coffee and got on line, and as soon as Laila came on I found out that her niece had died overnight.  I guess it was more serious than anyone knew and her family had taken too long to get her to the hospital.  It is a shame as her niece, Alexandra, was only 9 years old.

Now Laila is of course feeling the guilt we all feel when we lose a family member.  Why didn't I spend more time with her?  Why didn't I help my brother's family more?  Anyway, she was in tears and after we dedicated our prayers to Alexandra this morning I tried to calm her down the best I could.  I really don't know what else to do other than try and be supportive as possible.

This morning I dropped my son off at work on my way to work.  When I parked the car I saw that he had forgotten his backpack in the car.  I have to fill a prescription for Monday's dental surgery at lunch so I will try and drop it off with him.

Judy didn't call last night, and every time I tried to call her David was on the phone.  They should have made it to Texas yesterday.  I hope to contact her tonight and see how they are doing.

Anyway, I guess that is it for now.  I have a bunch of stuff to get done this morning at work, so I had better get hopping.

Busy day at work

Well it is Monday again, and at least I had a better start to the week than last week.  This morning I was surprised that my son actually got up before I did, and since we are currently using just one of the bathrooms upstairs there was a little competition this morning.

I was slightly late chatting with Laila this morning, but we did get our morning prayers done and then I dropped my son off at work on my way in this morning.  This morning is when I give all my end of the course maintenance tips to the class, and so I did that and had the class play around with the test equipment and showed them a few things that are not part of the curriculum.

After that I let them go for the day and then attended a meeting with a person that works for the depot, where we get items overhauled.  Since I am currently writing my part of the new curriculum, we asked him to review what we have been putting out in class and asked it he had any suggestions on additional things we should be saying about the equipment.  It is always helpful to get a knowledgeable outsider to look at things as we are so used to what we are doing, a fresh set of eyes can be a help.

He recommended a few minor changes, and it was a fun meeting.  He was extremely happy with what he has seen with our work.  I didn’t get a chance to show him what I am currently working on, as he had to leave and we ran out of time.  I know my co-workers are impressed as they talked about the new stuff.  I told him I would give him a copy when I get done with it.

This afternoon when I get off I will drop by and get my son, and then go home and get set up for “Deal or No Deal” tonight.  I already have leftovers from yesterday for dinner tonight so cooking won’t be a chore tonight.

Anyway, I guess that is it for today.  I hope everyone has a great week.

Cute

I wish I had my camera with me in the car a little while ago.  After completing my paperwork for the job, I ran down to the Navy Exchange Mini Mart to pick up a few things.
On my way home I saw two things of interest.

The first one made me feel a little sad, as there was this old man, must have been in his 70's carrying a large grocery bag.  When I went to the Mini Mart the guy was way up at the top of the hill near the base housing project.  On my way home I saw him near the intersection of Reo Drive which meant he had walked a little over half a mile.

It was pretty hot out and I saw that he was laboring.  I was going to pull over and offer him a ride, but he got to his house just as I was getting ready to stop.

So after that I headed home, and saw the cutest thing.  There was this mobile pet grooming van parked in front of a house, right where I turn into my sub-division.   Anyway it was a fairly large van with windows way up near the top of the roof and there was this dog trying to escape out of one of the top windows.

I thought it was so funny, and this dog had this expression on his face like "Please Save Me."  I wish I would have had my camera with me as it would have been an excellent picture.  I know my dogs hate being groomed, so I guess this one feels the same way.

Anyway, back to the weekend.  I hope everyone is having a great time.

Another Sunday

Last night I stayed up a little late watching TV but I didn't sleep in that late this morning.  I got up and made a fast breakfast today Laila and I did our regular routine.

I also watched Fox News and was watching all the stuff about Bill Clinton's meltdown on his interview with Chris Wallace.  I guess the truth hurts.  Laila will disagree, but since I was in the military during the Clinton administration and lived through the lean years when we were getting our spare parts from decommissioned ship's and were firing missiles to keep his scandals off the front page of the newspapers and out of the press, I will not change my opinion.

Laila has a different opinion and does not understand why he is being beat up in the press, but then she gets her news from the Clinton News Network CNN.  She also lives in a country where the opinion of the people is controlled by what the government there will allow them to see on their media.  Anyway, I had better get off that subject because I don’t want to get my lovely Laila mad at me.

Laila went to bed just as I was leaving for church this morning.  Today was the 25th Sunday in Ordinary Time.  The first reading was Wisdom 2:12, 17-20.  The second reading was James 3:16-4:3.  The Gospel was Mark 9:30-37.  Father Cholo gave the mass again this Sunday.  I guess he will be the one giving the 11 AM mass each Sunday.  The message today was about importance, and the fact that was we are all equal servants of God.  There are no servants of God that are more important than others.  So I took that to mean I should be humble and less cocky in my real life as well as spiritually.  I am sometimes guilty of that, especially when I teach.  I get a little over confident at times.

Now I am watching football and hoping to hear from my daughter who will be departing Maryland tomorrow morning and heading for San Diego.  I hope they take their time and don’t try to travel too far each day.  She said they are only going to drive during the daylight hours, and I hope she stays with that plan.  Especially with the weather being the way it has been back east lately.

Anyway, I have some paperwork to do for work and I had better get it done.  I hope everyone had a great weekend.
