Mass

Last night Laila, the kid's, and I watched a few movies, since Saturday night TV is a little boring.  The kids went to bed a little early and I stayed up until three AM.  Laila and I were just having too much time chatting and watching.

This morning I got out of bed about nine AM and we chatted for a while.  Judy, Carlos and I went to the 11 AM mass and then got some Chinese food for lunch.

Today was the 27th Sunday in Ordinary Time.  The first reading was
Genesis 2:16-24.  The second reading was Hebrews 2:9-11 and the Gospel was Mark 10:2-16.  Father Cholo gave the sermon and it was about divorce today.  He was talking about how all the diocese in the United States require interviews and a nine month course before they will marry someone in the church.  He also said that though Moses allowed for divorce Jesus made it very clear that divorce is not acceptable.

It was a good sermon and after the mass they announced that they were taking donated items for the survivors of the Philippine Typhoon that went through September 28th.  There is a need for medical supplies and all.  I will try to drop off some things a little later today.
We also lit a candle for Carlos' brother who we heard was in the hospital.

Yesterday I got my car back just before 6 PM.  In addition to getting new tires, an alignment, and the fluids changed, they replaced my back brake pads, so I can now feel safe when we set out on Thursday.

Today will be laundry day, so I will be busy doing that for the afternoon.  I will run over to the grocery store and grab some items to donate.

I hope everyone has a great weekend.

A great night

Yesterday when I got home all my Internet problems were cleared up, and I didn't have to do anything but log on.  So I guess the problem was with my ISP the whole time.  They have been quite dependable through the years and so it kind of caught me by surprise.

Last night Laila and I caught up on the missed episode of "Deal or No Deal" and then we watched the Friday night new one.  After that we watched the "Dateline" Chile predator thing and then "Law and Order".  After the local news while channel surfing for a good movie to watch I accidentally surfed through "Duece Bigalow, European Gigalo" and Laila  wanted to watch that one so even though it is not my kind of movie, because we were watching together I put it on.

This morning I slept in a little bit then Judy and I took my car in to get serviced for the San Antonio trip and then went shopping for groceries.  Now that I can eat solid foods again I am going to make taco's for dinner tonight so I got all the fixings for that.

I am waiting for them to call me and tell me the car is ready, then we will go pick it up.  Seems the only thing I have to do now is send my measurements to the Tuxedo Store for the wedding.

I will also get my hair cut sometime over the weekend.  I will probably do that tomorrow.  I am a bit lazy today, probably due to all the work this week and the medications for the surgery.

Well, I guess that is about it.  I am going to go fix something to eat and fill up the belly.  Have a great weekend everyone.

Internet problems

My Internet went down last night so I went to bed early and just recorded our Thursday night TV stuff.   It initially looked like it was my Internet provider because the sync kept flashing, but then this morning it was back.

It did keep losing sync from time to time so I will ring out my phone lines when I get home from work today.  If I have a loose phone line that could cause the problem, so it will be a quick fix and unlike the past electrical problems I know exactly where the phone lines are running.

Laila finally updated her blog.  I have been on her case about not updating it.  She has not been in the blogging mood lately, I think because of all the stuff that has been going on lately with her father and daughters accidents and the death of her niece.  It is hard for her to get her mind on other things.

Also she has been all tied up playing Rose online with her boys.  Sometimes I think she is too addicted to the game, but it fills something needed in her life right now.  It keeps her calmed down through the hard times she has been having lately.

I haven’t blogged much about what has been happening in the news lately.  A lot of it has been too depressing, as in the case of the recent school shootings in Colorado and Pennsylvania.  I really wonder what causes people to do these things, and I hope this is not a new trend where people will try and out do the last person.

Another thing in the news is Representative Foley and his chat stuff.  I am now wondering if this was all a setup as some reports say the kid was over 18.  But than again I think if you are going to live the gay lifestyle and put yourself in a position of high visibility, then you will face consequences if someone decides to go after you.  When I was getting my security clearance in the Navy, that was one of the things that could have been a disqualifier, along with drug use, or indebtedness.  With the timing, the questionable sources, and the fact that ABC has had to retract some of the story, I wonder if this is all just dirty politics.

The other thing that caught my eye was the City of Encinitas has made it illegal to rent to illegal aliens.  That has really caused some protests and all here.  Again I wonder why they just don’t check identification of the protesters and send the illegal ones home.  I was watching FOX News yesterday and they had a story of farmers that were hiring people from Mexico for the growing season and I see no problem with that.  I also don’t mind paying a little more for products if the farmers hire legal workers.

The illegal ones have to go though, because we don’t know who they are and where they are.  There are so many crimes being committed by some of them and the police are prevented from knowing if the are legal or illegal due to the sanctuary status of so many of the cities around this area.  I would like to see someone rule sanctuary cities illegal and unconstitutional.  Again, someone that is not a citizen of the United States does not have constitutional rights.

Well I guess that is it for now.  It is time to get the work day stuff done so I can get home and enjoy the three-day weekend.

Travel

Well my tickets for my next visit to see my wonderful Laila have been bought and paid for so now the countdown begins again.  I will be departing on 14 December and returning on 3 January.  I would have liked to go earlier and stay a little longer, but work takes priority, since without the job I would not have the money to go.

Last night was fun, since we managed to have Skype back up so we watched "Jericho", "House" and "CSI New York".  Tonight will be great because "My Name is Earl" and "Deal or No Deal" will be on.

Laila's dad burned his arm cooking and his burns are more serious than Pearl's.  I hope he heals up quickly.

Judy and Carlos have settled in comfortably, though I guess I will have to shop for more grocery items.  I have been used to buying small quantities of stuff since it is usually just me, but in addition to Judy and Carlos moving in, David has been staying home more lately and he is a bottomless pit.  One cool thing is that the house is a lot less cluttered.  Also Judy has been getting on David when he makes a mess.

I got a new computer chair on my way home yesterday.  It is the same as the last one I had, with a little more padding on the seat.  Now I have to get it broken in.   Since it is the same brand I will call their toll free number and get the part to fix the old one for the kids.  I may even be able to get it under warrantee.

Other than that, my class will be in lab for the rest of this week and all of next week.  That will keep me busy, after they get through the operation and module location labs.  Once they start using test equipment things get busy.

Well I suppose that is it for the time being.  I have to get to work and will continue at lunch, especially since I can't eat anything due to the surgery.

Well it is now lunch time and they have had me running around a bit.  I don't mind though since it makes the day fly by pretty quickly.  Also since we are in lab we can listen to the radio and though I don't listen to music that much, it brightens up the day.

Laila went to bed really early today.  She was going to go to bed as soon as I left for work today which would have been about 9PM her time.  That means she might be online pretty early tonight after I get off work today.  I do have to stop by the bank and the mini-mart on the way home.  I need to get some milk and also I am supposed to b taking Vitamin D and Calcium Tablets, but I keep forgetting to get them.  There was also something else I was supposed to get but I forgot what it was.  I hope I remember before I go home and settle in for the night tonight.

I will also be glad when I can start eating normally again.  Soup is good but, it gets old in a hurry.  I will have to make sure to stay away from the spicy foods when I eat this weekend because of the antibiotics and Vitamin C pills I am taking.  They have really been giving me heartburn.

I also have to remember to take my car in for an oil change and maybe get some new tires before setting out for San Antonio next week.

Laila was worried about me not being online next week but I will take this new laptop and will have it already loaded up with all the stuff we normally use.  Since it is wireless I should be able to connect somewhere, and will just check out what hotels are on the way.

I figure leaving Thursday morning, we should get as far as Los Cruces, New Mexico or maybe even El Paso, Texas the first day and get in around noon to San Antonio.  After the wedding and all we will have to leave right away so I can get to work on Monday.  I would have liked to have stayed longer, but I was not anticipating the large class size of this class, and the portion of the course we are currently in.

Well I suppose that is about it for now.  I hope everyone is having a great week.

Back to the job

It was nice to get back to work today as it helps me take my mind off the pain in my jaw.  This morning I got up and had a lot of energy, probably since I spent all day on the couch yesterday.  Last night I stayed up until 2AM watching TV and chatting with my darling Laila.  I just was not tired.  Also I was waiting to take my medication before going to sleep.

Anyway, even though I only got a few hours sleep I was fine this morning when I got up.  I took my time getting dressed and took a lot of time brushing my teeth.  Because of my implant I am not allowed to use my electric toothbrush, so I am now using a soft bristle brush and I just brush longer now.

After I got done Laila and I couldn’t seem to get Skype to work, so we chatted for a while and then it was time to go to work.  David decided he was going to work today, so I dropped him off on my way to work.

I was listening to the Rick Roberts show this morning and it was a riot.  He usually talks about politics so I figured his show would all be about Representative Foley, but today was different.

His subject was the Chargers theme song, “San Diego Superchargers”. And it was a riot.  H was saying that the song sounded like something “The Village People” would sing.  His listeners felt the same way and they all want a song that would be more of a fight song.  It was refreshing not to have to listen to the same old subjects that are being beat to death day after day.

Today on my way home I have to get a new computer chair.  One of the legs broke off my old one.  I was using a footstool yesterday and it was really uncomfortable.  I don’t know how it got broken, but I want to get something a little more comfortable anyway.

I also have to get my tuxedo measurements to my daughter for the wedding on the 14th.  Judy and I will be leaving the morning of the 12th to head for San Antonio.  I will take my new laptop when I go and try and keep the blog up while I am gone.  Since my work schedule is busy right now we will have to start heading back right after the wedding.  I would have liked to stay longer, but the new class I have right now is fairly large and I don’t want to get too far behind.

Oh and that reminds me, I have to get my plane reservations booked for Christmas with Laila.  She always feels better when I have my ticket in hand.  I want to take a few extra days so I can spend the full 21 days there.  Also the sooner I book the flight the cheaper the price will be.

Well, I guess that is about it for today.  I have to get a few things done before the class gets back from lunch.  I hope everyone is having a great week.

Took the day off

Well I have not blogged today until late, mainly because of the vicotin.  I have been taking little cat naps all day.  I did have to take off work again today because I could not sleep last night due to a mixture of pain and the medicines I have been taking.

Laila and Pearl just got home from Saint Luke's having Pearl's burn looked at.  Laila sent me a picture and I feel really bad.  It really looks ugly and I can tell it is causing her pain.  Hopefully the new prescriptions they gave her will allow it to heal faster.

I am going to go back to work tomorrow, so I will skip taking my vicotin tomorrow when I am at work.  It will probably hurt, but I am sure that teaching will take my mind off of it.

While taking my day off and camping out on the loveseat all day I managed to watch the Padres lose their first game of the playoffs.  I would really love to see them make it to the World Series.

One thing that is really bumming me out today is the fact that I can't eat any solid food.  To keep from messing up the surgery I bought a bunch of those Carnation Instant Breakfasts, so I am drinking that for my three meals a day.  At least that way I am getting enough calories and vitamins to keep me healthy.

Laila is finally updating her blog.  It has been a while since she updated it.  We were talking about her opening up her comments section again.  The people that were leaving the nasty messages have quit playing blogshares, so maybe they will leave her blog alone.

She said that since she has closed the comments she has not been getting spammed so she may go ahead and leave them off.

Well I guess since I am still doing the cat naps on occasion I will go ahead and post this and lay down again.  It is really hard to concentrate right now with the medications I am taking.

Dental work

I just got home from the dentist so blogging will be light today as I am sure once the pain medication wears off, I will be hurting for certain.

Today I had the base of my implant inserted (lower right side).  First they drilled a hole in my jaw bone, and then he screwed it in with a ratchet type device.  It was pretty painless and all, while they were doing it.

I stocked up on alot of soft food and will try to eat when I get hungry.  Anyway, I will now lay down for a while and hope that this does not hurt too bad.

Tomorrow is the day

Well tomorrow is the day where I will be getting my dental implant, something I have been dreading for a while because I know it is going to hurt and I will be on vicotin for a few days.  It always makes me drowsy, and does not seem to do much for the pain.  I took the day off work because my appointment is in the morning.  I have plenty of sick days on the books, and I cleared it with my boss already.  I may have to take Tuesday off too, but will have to wait and see.

This morning it was great to have company at church.  Laila went to bed and my daughter, her fiance, and I all went to the 9:30 mass.

Today was the 26th Sunday in Ordinary Time.  The first reading was
Numbers 11:25-29.  The second reading was James:1-6.  The Gospel was Mark 9:38-43, 45, 47-48.  Father Vano gave the mass today and started out with a story about his father.  His father had managed to catch an infection in his leg last week and the doctors were considering cutting off his leg.  His father did not want that to happen and said he would rather die first than lose the leg.  After a lot of prayer they managed to cure his father by cutting out the infection and saved the leg.

He said that the passages from Mark kind of reminded him of that.  He also said to not take the passages literally, where Mark was talking about cutting off your hand if your hand sinned, or your leg, or eyes.  He said it was written for dramatic purposes.  Besides I wouldn't have any body parts if we were to do this.

After that he changed the theme of the mass to tolerance for other religions and other people.  I think this is because of the stuff going on with the Pope.  Father Vano also praised the work of Pope John Paul II and all the trips he made around the world trying to get people from all religions and backgrounds to get along and tolerate one another.

After church I was going to treat everyone for breakfast, so we set off for Hometown Buffet.  The line was backed up into the parking lot, so I tried International House of Pancakes and saw the same thing.  I went up the street and was going to stop at a place called Jimmy's, but they went out of business and I decided we would just grab something and take it home.

Besides, that way I could catch the 2nd half of the Charger/Ravens game, so we went to Jack in the Box after I gave them several choices of places to stop.

When we got home they ate and then went off to one of the Indian Casino's with the ex and her live-in, and I watched the Chargers snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.

Yesterday I really had an interesting trip.  My dentist wanted me to get something called Arnica, that is supposed to help with the bruising.  They suggested I buy it from Henry's Market.  I went online and found that the closest three were in Bonita, Lemon Grove, and La Mesa.  Since the divorce I avoid the Lemon Grove, and La Mesa areas so I went to the one in Bonita.

The only problem was that I didn't know that Bonitafest was yesterday and all the roads were blocked off and there were people and cars going everywhere.  The 20 minute trip wound up turning into a 1 hour trip, but I did get the Arnica, and found a whole bunch of new Philippine Restaurants.  Always nice to find them so that when Laila comes here we can check out different places, even though I know she is dying to go to Jack in the Box.

Well I guess that is it for now.  I am going to lay down and watch TV for a while.  I went to bed late and got up early so I am going to get a little rest.  I got most of my chores done yesterday.  Have a great week everyone.

Not a typical Saturday

This morning after chatting with Laila until she went to bed a ran down to the post office to get the mail.  The idiot light lit up reminding me that I was almost out of gas so I quickle ran down to the Navy Exchange Gas station and filled up the tank.

While I was at the pump I was behind some reitred guy much older than me.  He was having difficulty walking and even handling the pump and all.  We both finished about the same time, but I had paid at the pump with my American Express while he had to pay at the window so I had to wait a while for him to come back.

When he did come back I found that he also drove like he walked, really slow and since he was going left out of the exchange I decided to go right and just take another route home.

Earlier today I had heard that there was going to be a big anti-illegal alien rally in National City, after their Mayor officially declared it a Sanctuary City.  He did this on his own and without a vote of the City Counsel, and basically has a "I can do what I want because I am the Mayor, and they are not" attitude.

Anyway, now the minutemen have come to National City to voice thier opinion.  I was going to grab a flag and go myself, but they had a rally last week and some violence erupted. Laila told me to stay home so I decided I would listen to her.

Anyway the rally was supposed to be down by the National City Mail Library in a park.  Knowing that the streets would all be blocked off in that direction I took 8th street which is a couple of miles from where the rally was being held.  When I got to National City Blvd there was a large group of people holding the National Flag of Mexico.

They had all kinds of signs and all, and I was wondering why the border patrol and INS were not there rounding them up.  This is not Mexico, and I am tired of seeing the Mexican Flag being paraded around in my country.

These people want to break out laws, and then flaunt the fact that they are here.  And they are being enabled by crooked politicians like Mayor Inzunza.

When they are successful in taking over the United States and turning it in to a third world hell hole just like Mexico is, I guess the Canadians had better watch out because they will be next.

The legal residents of this country had better wake up and demand that something be done and fast.  The illegal aliens are getting bolder and bolder.  If you read World Net Daily, every day there are more and more incidences of crime commited against citizens of this country by people that are here unlawfully.

When I read about a police officer in Houston being shot in the head four times by a illegal alien that had been in jail for a variety of offences and was deported, and then I see the Mayor of Houston and the police Chief in Houston still support being a Sanctuary City I am dumbfounded.  It is time we bounce all these politicians at all levels of government out of office.

When I see people agains showing identification at the polls, I now suspect I know how people like Inzunza got elected.  He had to have benefitted by the illegal alien vote.  One thing I am thankful to see is that as I drive through National City and see all the candidate for mayor signs I have not seen one with his name on it.

Well I have vented on that one enough for today.  Yesterday I was startled that someone posted a picture of
Michelle Malkin in a strig bikini that was definately a fake picture, and she was blowing up all over her blog about it.  She did leave the picture up on her blog.

I noticed today she was a little more quiet about it.  I think she should quietly take whatever legal action she may be able to take and not dignify thier attempts to insult her as that just adds to thier blog traffic.

And I was also shocked to hear that congressman Foley, a fighter for children's protection from sexual predators, is a preditor himself and had to resign from office.  I hope they prosocute this guy to the full extent of the law and I also hope the leftists see that when someone on the right screws up they resign.

Well time to get some meaningful stuff done for the weekend.
